The world’s first production iCAUR V27 rolls off the line in China
With timeless design, innovative technology, and all-terrain capability, this modern classic isn’t here to repeat history – it’s here to redefine it.
iCAUR V27 is a rugged, boxy, range-extended electric SUV (REEV) from Chinese automaker Chery’s iCAR brand, designed with styling cues from vehicles like the Land Rover Defender and Land Cruiser, featuring a 1.5L turbo engine generator for extended electric driving, offering both 2WD/4WD, and positioned as a bold, tech-forward off-roader for younger buyers.

Now, the iCAUR V27 is the flagship mid-to-large SUV from Chery’s international “new energy” sub-brand (known as iCar in China). It features a rugged “Future Classic” design and advanced range-extended technology.
Core Technology & Performance: The V27 utilizes a Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) platform, where a combustion engine acts exclusively as a generator for the electric motors.
Powertrain: A 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine serves as the range extender, charging a 34.3 kWh battery.
Driving Range: It offers a pure electric range of approximately 150–200 km (CLTC) and a total combined range exceeding 1,000 km.
Output: The All-Wheel Drive (AWD) variant delivers up to 449 hp (335 kW) and 650 Nm of torque, achieving 0–100 km/h in roughly 5.9 seconds.
Chassis: Developed with input from the Prodrive racing team, the chassis is designed for both high-speed stability and off-road control.
Smart Tech & Interior: Dubbed the “Interstellar Cockpit,” emphasizes high-tech connectivity and minimalist design.
Displays: Centered around a 15.4-inch to 15.6-inch 2.5K floating touchscreen powered by the Snapdragon 8155 processor.
Smart Driving: Equipped with LiDAR sensors (Hesai ATX) and Horizon Robotics chips, supporting Level 2+ ADAS, terrain prediction, and automated city/highway driving functions.
Cabin Features:A dual panoramic sunroof that blocks 99.9% of UV rays.
Audio: Systems ranging from 15 to 23 speakers.
Storage: Includes 50 practical storage spaces and 50 external/internal attachment points for eco-friendly accessories.
Rugged Capability: Despite its luxury tech, the V27 is built for all-terrain use.
Dimensions: Approximately 5 meters long, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase.
Geometry: Features a 220 mm ground clearance, a 31° approach angle, and a 28° departure angle.
Utility: Offers a 1.6-tonne towing capacity and a side-hinged tailgate with an optional external storage box or spare tire.
In 2026, iCAUR is expanding globally, with the V27 following the launch of the smaller V23 and 03 models in markets like South Africa and Malaysia.
