Italdesign ‘Fixes’ The Honda NSX With A Limited Edition Tribute

The Honda NSX Tribute by Italdesign will be available in small numbers.

The Honda NSX Tribute by Italdesign is a masterclass in automotive coachbuilding, officially revealed at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon. This ultra-limited project takes the advanced hybrid platform of the second-generation NSX (NC1) and “fixes” its most debated element—its styling—by reintroducing the “musculature” and “pure lines” of the 1990 original.

Correcting the Design Language

The second-generation NSX was often criticised for its conservative, angular lines that felt more “Acura” than “Japanese icon”.

Italdesign has addressed this disconnect by replacing virtually every body panel to recapture the first generation’s legendary “cockpit-forward” silhouette.

  • Low and Sleek Proportions: Italdesign reintroduced the sloping hood and low-profile stance of the original NA1. The entire greenhouse is finished in glossy black, visually lightening the car’s profile and mimicking the fighter-jet canopy of the 1990s model.
  • The “H” Identity: The front end evokes Honda’s identity through a stylized “H” shape rather than a literal badge. It features motorized “eyelids” that replace the original pop-up headlights with a contemporary, high-precision gaze.
  • Racing Heritage: The body features a striking “dual reading”: the upper section is finished in Championship White NH0—a direct nod to the NSX-R—while the lower section consists of technical, glossy black surfaces.

Aerodynamic Evolution

Every component, from the NSX-R GT-inspired roof scoop to the sculpted side skirts, is functional. The iconic floating-ring spoiler from the first generation has been reinterpreted as a continuous, suspended visual element that improves high-speed stability while adding an elegant, dynamic touch to the rear.

Interior: A Tribute to Senna

The “Singer-style” transformation continues inside with a refined, driver-focused double cockpit. Subtle, sophisticated details are hidden throughout for true enthusiasts:

  • The number 12 on the dashboard and a small helmet graphic pay homage to Ayrton Senna, who was pivotal in refining the original car’s handling.
  • A wraparound design creates continuity between the dashboard and door panels, drawing inspiration from Formula 1 single-seaters.

Technical Specs and Ultra-Limited Production

While the exterior is radical, the proven engineering remains untouched. The Tribute retains the NC1’s sophisticated 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 hybrid powertrain, delivering 573 hp (and over 600 hp for Type S-based units) through an all-wheel-drive system.

This “few-off” project is strictly limited to 10–15 units globally. Crucially for collectors in specific markets, every unit is produced exclusively in right-hand drive. Pricing is privately agreed upon with customers but is estimated to exceed one million USD.
