Mazda has introduced a new colour – Navy Blue Mica – made for the new CX-5.
For Mazda, a car’s paint is far more than a simple aesthetic choice; it is a fundamental element of the vehicle’s form. Over the years, the Japanese automaker has built a prestigious reputation for its Takuminuri (“artisan coloring”) technology, which utilizes high-precision robotics to replicate the hand-sprayed finish of a master craftsman. This philosophy has birthed iconic signature shades like Soul Red Crystal, Machine Gray, and Rhodium White, alongside other distinctive colors such as Artisan Red, Polymetal Gray, and Zircon Sand.

Now, Mazda is ready to add a new chapter to its storied palette with the introduction of Navy Blue Mica.
Navy Blue Mica: The New Standard of Elegance
While Mazda has a rich history with blue—dating back to “Mazda Blue” in the 1970s and spanning over 150 different blue-named shades—Navy Blue Mica is designed to be a definitive, long-lasting standard for the brand. This new hue is a sophisticated evolution of the existing “Deep Crystal Blue Mica,” specifically developed to enhance day-to-day usability while exuding premium quality.

The development team focused on the keyword “high resolution” to achieve a unique visual character. By carefully balancing different mica particles and arranging them horizontally, the paint achieves high contrast: vivid, saturated highlights paired with deep, elegant shadows. This precision allows the car’s design details to pop in any environment, whether under a clear sky or in the rain.

The Future “Hero” of the Malaysian CX-5?
The all-new Mazda CX-5—currently the brand’s global best-selling model—will be the first vehicle to feature Navy Blue Mica. As anticipation builds for the updated CX-5 to arrive in Malaysia later this year, Navy Blue Mica is positioned to be the model’s “hero” color.

This “high-resolution” blue offers a perfect alternative to the traditional reds and grays. It accentuates the Kodo: Soul of Motion design language, ensuring that the new CX-5 stands out on Malaysian roads with a look that is both fresh and timeless.
