The all-electric, all-new Volvo ES90 arrives in Malaysian showrooms with an attractive price tag.
Volvo Car Malaysia has officially launched the all-new Volvo ES90. It’s the brand’s first fully electric premium sedan, though purists may argue it’s more of a liftback design. The ES90 is locally assembled in Shah Alam, reinforcing Malaysia’s position as a key hub for Volvo.
Priced from RM339,888, this flagship electric sedan is designed for drivers who demand a balance between executive presence, sustainable performance, and the world-class safety for which Volvo is renowned. To mark the launch, Volvo is offering a 2% early-bird incentive for the first 100 bookings made by 31 March 2026. Fleet buyers are offered up to 8% off.
Redefining Range and Charging
Built on the advanced SPA2 platform with 800-volt architecture, the ES90 addresses the primary concerns of electric vehicle ownership: range and charging speed. It delivers a class-leading WLTP range of up to 651 km on a single charge, making interstate travel—such as from Kuala Lumpur to Penang or Johor Bahru—entirely stress-free.
When it comes to charging, the 800-volt system allows for ultra-fast DC charging at up to 350 kW. This enables the battery to charge from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 22 minutes, ensuring that drivers spend more time on the road and less time at charging stations. A short 10 minute charge up could return more than 300km of range in the right circumstances.
Scandinavian Sanctuary: Interior and Tech
The ES90’s interior is a masterclass in Scandinavian design, prioritizing a “living room” feel with authentic, sustainable materials. A long 3.1-metre wheelbase ensures exceptional legroom for all occupants, while the cabin is upholstered in ventilated Nordico in Charcoal.
The technological centerpiece is a 14.5-inch portrait-oriented centre touchscreen powered by the Snapdragon® Cockpit Platform, featuring Google built-in (Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Play Store).
For audiophiles, the ES90 offers an immersive Bowers & Wilkins High-Fidelity audio system with 25 speakers and Dolby Atmos® technology, creating a spatial sound experience akin to a live recording studio.
Comfort is further enhanced by a four-zone climate control system with an advanced air purifier that blocks 95 per cent of PM2.5 particulates, and an electrochromic panoramic roof that provides 99.9 per cent UV protection. You also get soft close doors, which isn’t something Volvo Car Malaysia offered on previous sedans.
The Smartest and Safest Volvo Ever
True to its heritage, Volvo has equipped the ES90 with its most advanced safety suite to date. Powered by the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin platform, the car processes data from five radars, seven cameras, and twelve ultrasonic sensors to create a 360-degree safety shield.
Innovative safety features include:
- Safe Space Technology: Optimised deformation zones and a strong safety cage.
- Driver Understanding System: Detects driver distraction or fatigue and intervenes with supportive measures.
- Door-Opening Alert: Warns occupants of passing cyclists or pedestrians before a door is opened.
Sustainability at Its Core
The ES90 is a testament to Volvo’s goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2040. Beyond its zero-tailpipe emissions, the vehicle incorporates a high percentage of recycled materials: 29 per cent of all aluminium and 18 per cent of all steel used in the car is recycled. The interior also features FSC-certified wood panels and 16 per cent recycled polymers.
The Volvo ES90 is now available for viewing and booking at all authorized Volvo retailers nationwide. With its blend of distinctive design, high-performance electric tech, and uncompromised safety, the ES90 is set to lead the premium electric sedan segment in Malaysia.
