XPENG P7+ Production Starts In Europe
XPENG will launch three robotaxi models in its domestic market this year and soon after it will be running in selected European cities.
The XPENG P7 is a bold, emotional, and athletic 5-seater sports sedan that raises the bar in both aesthetics and performance.
The P7+ is the first XPeng model to use a “vision-only” system (AI Hawkeye), abandoning LiDAR in favor of 11 cameras, radars, and ultrasonic sensors. The top-tier 2026 variant is powered by three in-house Turing AI chips, delivering 2,250 TOPS of computing power for advanced L3-capable driving assistance.

This is a major milestone in Austria where the test production has been completed. The Sino–Austrian teams are now moving into the next phase, with a clear focus on precision, quality, and delivery excellence.
Following its China launch on January 8, 2026, the P7+ is scheduled for a global rollout across 36 countries, including major European markets like Germany, Belgium, and potentially the UK and Malaysia later in the year.
Did you know that XPENG is the world’s most innovative automotive manufacturer in the field of safety systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving: no other carmaker currently matches the technological leadership of the Chinese high-tech group. This is the conclusion of a recent study conducted by the Center of Automotive Management (CAM) in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany.

Partial automation has long since become the standard among Chinese automotive brands. In particular, the study notes that Chinese manufacturers have outperformed international competitors in the ADAS field over the past three years.
In 2024 alone, the share of Chinese brands in global innovative strength exceeded 70 percent. German manufacturers accounted for 14 percent, while US brands reached just 12 percent.
Eight of the ten most innovative automotive manufacturers are Chinese. With an innovation index of 65.6, XPENG stands as the clear market leader. The gap to the second-placed manufacturer exceeds seven points, while the most innovative European brand achieves an index of around half that of XPENG, at 34.3.
XPENG derives around half of its innovative strength from developments related to Level-2+ autonomous driving. Advanced driver assistance systems such as XPILOT, fitted as standard on every XPENG model, support the driver and enable a partially autonomous driving experience on specific road sections.
Depending on market conditions and regulatory frameworks, vehicles from the Chinese high-tech electric car brand may also offer higher levels of autonomy (Level 3.0 and 3.5).
Meanwhile in Malaysia, Xpeng has joined the CKD bandwagon, announcing plans to locally assemble its vehicles here in Malaysia. Partnering with EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB), production is set to commence at the company’s Melaka plant by mid-2026.
Leading the charge (pun intended) on Xpeng’s local assembly endeavours over here will be its curvy all-electric G6 SUV, which is scheduled to start rolling out in Melaka as early as March 2026. This will then be followed by the more cubist X9 MPV, with apparently CKD plans afoot for both its fully electric form, as its range-extender variant.
