Another Xiaomi SU7 Crash Due To Driver And System Issues

In 2025 there were several high-speed, fatal crashes involving the much talked about Xiaomi SU7 electric vehicle (super EV) in China, often with driver-assistance (NOA) engaged and this has sparked safety concerns.

Fact ….. new electric cars are getting too fast and with too much torque to be used at showroom level to get new car buyers excited and wanting to get behind the wheel with no proper training and experience.

A notable April 2025 incident involved a SU7 crashing into a barrier at 97 km/h, while an October 2025 crash in Chengdu involved a burning SU7.

Did you know that in April 2025 a Xiaomi SU7 traveling at around 60mph (96kmph) in ‘Navigate On Autopilot’ (NOA) mode crashed into a concrete barrier on an expressway, resulting in three fatalities.

October 2025 there was a crash where a SU7, the upmarket Ultra variant, crashed in Chengdu at high speed, leading to a fire that trapped the driver and resulted in a fatality.

Reports indicated difficulties for bystanders to open the vehicle doors, leading to questions about the electronic handle design and rescue procedures.

Following these incidents, Xiaomi recalled over 116,000 SU7 vehicles (roughly 30% of delivered units) to address software issues in their driver-assistance systems.

These accidents caused volatility in Xiaomi’s stock, with significant drops reported after the incidents.

In this picture we have a SU7 Ultra crashing out at 125km/h on a mountain road. Pure luck that no one else was injured (the cyclists were narrowly missed in the corner just before the crash).

As massive horsepower becomes increasingly accessible, driver response and basic physics awareness are clearly not keeping up.
