Driver Parks Leaves Blocking Gate And Does Not Care

Parking in front of my house gate and not bothering to even leave a contact number

Inconsiderate parking in front of houses/residences is a frequent source of neighbourly disputes and even with strangers visiting the area. While it may sometimes be NOT illegal on along the kerb between two terrace houses it is generally considered poor etiquette and disrespectful.

However, here we see a Proton S70 driver completely blocking the gate of this house owner and not even leaving a contact phone number. This means, the Proton S70 driver knew that police or town council traffic wardens will be giving summons for cars parked along the kerb. By parking the S70 in reverse up to the house gate, it looks like the house owners car and so no summons. BUT blocking the gate completely! (read the house owners remark below)

Inconsiderate car driver

This is nuisance parking and it refers to the unauthorised act of parking on private land or property. Instances of nuisance parking include parking on a private driveway or designated space, as well as obstructing private access through improper parking.

It is an offence to block a driveway or a dropped kerb. In Malaysia, for example, blocking a house entrance can lead to fines between RM1,000 and RM5,000 under the Road Transport Act 1987. But does it teach the S70 driver a lesson?

Effective Ways to Handle the Situation

Often, neighbors park there out of habit or convenience without realizing it bothers you. A polite note or calm conversation often resolves the issue immediately.

Park your own vehicle in that spot to reserve the space and break their habit of using it.

If the car is abandoned (e.g., flat tires, missing plates) or blocking your exit, contact the police non-emergency line or your local council.

Do not use cones, flower pots, or bins to save a spot on a public road, as this is often illegal and can result in a fine for you.

Are you currently dealing with a neighbor’s car blocking your driveway, or is the vehicle just taking up street space in front of your home? Our solution when we lived in a Petaling Jaya area surrounded by rude and inconsiderate neighbours was this. Try it ….. it might work for you also.

Every time a car is parked badly outside our home, either blocking our gate partially or completely, we just let out the air out from their front LEFT tyre almost 90 percent. This way when the driver approaches their illegally parked car, they will not see the almost FLAT tyre (as they come from the right side). They start their car, drive away and in just a few meters the need to stop. they get down and see a FLAT left tyre and now they have to change their tyre …… get their hand dirty …… be late for their next bad parking spot ……. !
