These Four Limited Edition Timepieces Mark Seiko’s 145th Anniversary

Seiko is celebrating their 145th anniversary with the introduction of 4 limited edition timepieces from King Seiko, Prospex, Presage and Astron.

Seiko is celebrating a remarkable milestone in its storied history, marking 145 years of horological excellence and innovation. To commemorate the occasion, the brand has unveiled four new limited-edition timepieces across its most prestigious collections: King Seiko, Prospex, Presage, and Astron. These anniversary models are designed to honor the pioneering spirit of Seiko’s founder, Kintaro Hattori, blending heritage-inspired aesthetics with the cutting-edge technology that defines modern Japanese watchmaking.

The Legacy of Kintaro Hattori

The Seiko story began in 1881 when a young Kintaro Hattori opened a small shop in Tokyo’s Ginza district. His vision was to not only sell and repair timepieces but to “enrich the lives of his customers with joy and beauty.” By 1892, he established the Seikosha factory, producing his own timepieces and laying the foundation for Japan’s watchmaking industry. These 145th-anniversary models serve as a tribute to that enduring legacy, featuring gold-colored accents that symbolize the brand’s “golden” era of innovation.

Four Icons of Innovation

Each of the four limited editions brings a unique perspective to the anniversary celebration:

  • King Seiko (KS1969 Series): This model features a sophisticated gray gradation dial inspired by the intricate patterns Hattori often had engraved on his early timepieces. It is powered by the slimline Caliber 6L35, offering a sleek 9.9mm profile and exceptional wearing comfort. In Malaysia, this edition is limited to 800 pieces with a recommended price of MYR 15,000.

  • Prospex Speedtimer: Drawing from Seiko’s 1960s sports timing heritage, this mechanical chronograph features a white dial with gold-colored hands and indexes. It utilizes the hand-assembled Caliber 8R48, which includes a vertical clutch and column wheel for high precision. This model is limited to 700 pieces at MYR 12,000.

  • Presage Craftsmanship: Inspired by the original “Timekeeper” pocket watch, this variant boasts a smooth white enamel dial and an “onion” crown. It features movable lugs and a sustainable leather strap from LWG-certified tanneries. Limited to 1,450 pieces, it is priced at MYR 8,700.

  • Astron GPS Solar: The most technologically advanced of the four, this Dual-Time Chronograph features a titanium case with a black super-hard coating. Gold-colored markings at 1, 4, and 5 on the UTC scale subtly reference the 145th anniversary. It is limited to 1,450 pieces with a retail price of MYR 15,800.

Availability in Malaysia

These anniversary creations are highly collectible, with each watch denoting its individual status as a limited edition on the case back. Malaysian collectors can find these models starting in February 2026 at official Seiko Boutiques and select retail partners nationwide.

Whether through the vintage charm of the Presage or the high-speed precision of the Astron, these 145th-anniversary models prove that while Seiko remains rooted in its rich history, its commitment to the future of timekeeping remains as vibrant as ever.
