Maranello has expanded its contemporary grand touring lineup with the global debut of the Ferrari Amalfi Spider, and it’s right here in Malaysia.
Following the regional debut of the Ferrari Amalfi earlier today, we now have the GLOBAL debut of the Ferrari Amalfi Spider. This new model represents a seamless evolution of the Prancing Horse’s front-mid-mounted engine architecture. Designed for those who seek a dynamic driving experience without sacrificing comfort, the Spider offers the unique pleasure of open-top motoring while retaining the sleek, fluid proportions of its coupé sibling.
The Return of the Elegant Soft Top
The most striking feature of the Amalfi Spider is its bespoke fabric soft top. Engineered to preserve the car’s formal purity, the roof can be operated at speeds of up to 60 km/h and opens in just 13.5 seconds.
Available in a variety of tailor-made and technical fabrics—including the shimmering new Tecnico Ottanio—the roof is designed for both aesthetic impact and performance. A five-layer sandwich construction ensures acoustic and thermal insulation comparable to a retractable hardtop. When stowed, the roof is a mere 220 mm thick, maximizing luggage capacity to a class-leading 172 litres.
Rally-Proven V8 Power
Powering the Amalfi Spider is the latest iteration of the award-winning 3855-cc twin-turbo V8. Technical refinements, including advanced turbocharging management and a redline raised to 7,600 rpm, allow the engine to produce:
- Maximum Power: 640 hp at 7,500 rpm.
- Acceleration: 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 9.4 seconds.
- Top Speed: 320 km/h.
The powertrain is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (derived from the SF90 Stradale), which has been further optimized for smoother urban driving and lightning-fast gear changes during spirited runs.
Advanced Aerodynamics and Comfort
Ferrari has prioritized passenger comfort through innovative aero-solutions. A highlight is the integrated wind deflector built into the rear bench backrest. Activated at the touch of a button, it creates a “bubble of comfort” by significantly reducing turbulence and noise in the cabin during high-speed open-air driving.
The vehicle also features an active rear wing with three configurations—Low Drag, Medium Downforce, and High Downforce—that adjust automatically based on speed and acceleration to ensure maximum stability.
High-Tech Dual-Cockpit Interior
Inside, the Amalfi Spider features an evolved Dual-Cockpit architecture. The cockpit is centered around a tactile interface, featuring a steering wheel with physical buttons and the return of the iconic anodized aluminium start button.
The digital experience is spread across three primary screens:
- 15.6″ Digital Instrument Cluster for driving data.
- 10.25″ Central Touchscreen for multimedia and climate control.
- 8.8″ Passenger Display, allowing the co-driver to monitor G-forces and engine revs.
