Jetour T2 Test Drive Review In Klang Valley
The Jetour T2 launch recently made headlines not for its strong looks and features but more for its selling price that is much more reasonable when compared to immediate boxy 4×4 rivals. Plus, its high initial booking numbers. Well, we must look at rivals from Chinese auto brands and not European rivals for obvious reasons right now ……. maybe not so in the near future as car consumer buying trends change.
Fact is this, in all the Middle Eastern and South American countries that got this T2 before us (left hand drive markets were first to get the T2) sales have been very encouraging and in the Middle East nations, this T2 has been the best seller for the past year. The Jetour T2 2.0T is currently one of the most talked about SUVs in the Middle East, particularly in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Well, it is a rugged-styled 4×4 alternative to premium SUVs like the Land Rover Defender (which is being imported used with no warranty and after sales from Japan and UK in large numbers and sold for between RM280k to RM360k) with monthly sales in China alone exceeding 10,000 units. Its popularity is driven by its distinctive, boxy design, powerful 2.0L turbocharged engine and extensive terrain drive system.
Inside The T2
Step inside and its a well designed rugged cabin with premium feel materials all around. There is a 15.6-inch touchscreen in the centre of the dashboard and it is powered by Snapdragon 8155 chip for quick response and intelligence.

There is a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster for the driver which has a cowl to keep sunlight away, 50W wireless phone charging pad, a 12-speaker Sony sound system, and 540-degree panoramic camera for easy parking. There is also wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, enabling seamless smartphone integration. The intelligent “Hello Jetour” voice assistant allows drivers to operate navigation, climate and media functions through voice commands and it is a learning system. You get ventilated leather clad seats, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear A/C vents for great cooling comfort.
The rear of the cabin features a “rugged luxury” aesthetic with durable, soft-touch materials and rubberized, easy-to-clean surfaces.
This cabin is designed for outdoors adventure with numerous storage compartments, including small micro-pockets and comfortable seating for 3 average sized adults in the rear.
At the rear there is a 752-liter cargo capacity with additional storage under the floor and a 12V power outlet in the trunk.
ADAS & Safety is not forgotten at all and this T2 Includes adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, lane keeping assist, 360-degree parking cameras and more. The list is extensive (see brochure below).

Under The T2 Hood
It has a powerful 2.0L turbocharged engine that delivers 251bhp and is rated for 390Nm of torque, with surprisingly capable AWD performance for light-to-medium off-roading (when we tested it in China a year ago)
The works with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and an XWD intelligent 4WD system, designed for high-performance on- and off-road capability.

Driving The T2
In city traffic this T2 is docile, very comfortable and with great outward visibility. Seating comfort is great and the sound system from SONY delivers crisp sound that easily competes with sound systems from vehicles costing RM100k more.

Find an open road or highway and throw caution to the wind, you can easily feel the robust acceleration with peak torque available at relatively low RPMs providing good low-end grunt for off-roading. The 7-speed DCT provides quick, responsive shifts and in ‘Economy’ mode it allows for fuel sipping and in ‘Sport’ mode it shows its ability easily. Handling is very good and the 19-inch wheels shod with 255/60 tyres provide more than adequate comfort.
There is a XWD Intelligent 4WD system that has been sourced from BorgWarner which allows automatic switching between 2WD and 4WD, featuring a locking differential to manage traction on challenging terrain.
The T2 comes with 7 driving modes which is Sport, Normal, Eco, Snow, Rock, Sand, X-Mode)that adapt to different terrains and driving styles.
This T2 offers 220mm ground clearance and a 700mm wading depth making it easy for Bentong Durian and Cameron vegetable farmers to use this T2 daily and trade-in their rusted and badly damaged Land Rovers (allowing for city slickers to buy and restore and use for city commuting with style).

The T2 Conclusion
The T2 is aimed at those wanting a lifestyle vehicle that blends daily usability with adventure capabilities. It is highly competitive in its segment, offering a modern, high-tech experience at a lower price point compared to established competitors.
Plus, it is backed by a 7-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty and a 10-year/1,000,000 km powertrain warranty, reflecting JETOUR Malaysia’s commitment to long-term ownership confidence.
