Will The Toyota Urban Cruiser Be Launched In Malaysia

This is another new Crossover or Compact SUV from Toyota and it is makes waves in Philippines and Indonesia right now.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser is an all-electric compact SUV, debuting as a twin to the Suzuki eVitara which is a joint venture product (already seen at the 2025 Japanese Mobility Show). It features a “Hammerhead” design, up to 426 km of driving range (61 kWh battery), and advanced cabin safety technology like a 10.1-inch screen and 360-camera.

First shown in December 2024, it has compact dimensions, just barely larger than the Toyota Yaris Cross, measuring 4,285 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,640 mm in height. With a turning radius of just 5.2 meters, it offers excellent maneuverability.

This new EV model is distinct from the previously discontinued, Suzuki-based, ICE Urban Cruiser, focusing instead on Toyota’s electric future. It is expected to enter markets in Southeast Asia, with pricing potentially positioned below the very popular Toyota Corolla Cross.

Known for being a practical family ready urban-focused EV, it is designed for city efficiency we would like to see it in Malaysia as a close rival to the many compact electric SUV’s coming in from Chinese auto manufacturer right now.

Just last month (February 2026) it was mentioned that Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) was assessing the possibility of assembling the Toyota Urban Cruiser electric version in Indonesia.
