Great Wall Motor (GWM) has released official images of its upcoming flagship off-roader, currently codenamed the Haval HX.

The Haval HX is a large-scale crossover designed for both urban sophistication and off-road utility. While the official commercial name is set to be announced on April 10, 2026, the released data highlights a vehicle built on GWM‘s most versatile architecture to date. Positioned as the brand’s premier full-size SUV, the HX integrates advanced plug-in hybrid technology with next-generation autonomous driving capabilities, marking a significant expansion for the Haval global portfolio.

Haval HX side profile

Platform and Architecture

The Haval HX utilizes the GWM One modular architecture, a sophisticated platform that supports multiple powertrain configurations:

  • Powertrain Versatility: The architecture is compatible with internal combustion engines (ICE), plug-in hybrids (PHEV), traditional hybrids (HEV), battery electric (BEV), and fuel cell electric (FCEV) systems.
  • High-Voltage System: Plug-in hybrid models on this platform utilize an 800V high-voltage system.
  • Suspension: The rear axle is equipped with a multi-link independent suspension system.

Dimensions and Exterior Design

The Haval HX adopts a “blocky” and assertive body shape characterized by functional design elements.

  • Size Positioning: As the flagship model, it is positioned to exceed the dimensions of the second-generation Haval H9, which measures 4,950 mm in length.
  • Exterior Features: The SUV features a flat roofline, sculpted fenders, traditional door handles, and multi-spoke chrome-plated rims.
  • Front Fascia: The front end is defined by large rectangular headlight blocks, a slim grille, and an expansive air intake.
  • Rear Configuration: It employs a swing-out tailgate equipped with a full-size spare wheel.

Powertrain and Performance

The variant revealed in China features a Hi4-Z dual-motor setup. Based on commonalities with other flagship vehicles on the GWM One platform:

  • Internal Combustion: The system typically utilizes a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 175 kW (235 hp).
  • Electric Output: The rear axle is powered by a high-output electric motor capable of 300 kW (402 hp).
  • Combined Performance: In peak configurations, the platform supports a combined output of up to 641 hp.

Advanced Assisted Driving (ADAS)

The Haval HX introduces GWM’s most advanced assisted driving technology to the brand.

  • VLA Model: The ADAS is based on the Vision, Language, Action (VLA) model, similar to the Wey 07 SUV.
  • Navigation Capabilities: The system supports Navigate On Autopilot (NOA) for both highway and urban environments.
  • Sensors: A LiDAR sensor is mounted on the roof to support its autonomous driving and parking functions.
