The TQ Wuling Bingo is worth buying if you are looking for an affordable, stylish, and practical city/family electric vehicle.
Launched in Malaysia in late 2025, it is locally assembled (CKD) at the Tan Chong plant, which helps keep its price highly competitive (a smidgen lower than the e:MAS 5). It is the first EV to be locally assembled at the Tan Chong Motors Plant which has been in operations for nearly 50 years.
The Bingo offers a 333km (Pro) to 410km (Max) driving range (CLTC), rapid 35-minute DC fast charging and modern retro cute styling with colour choices to keep its image friendly. Its key strengths include a spacious interior with substantial cargo capacity, six airbags for safety and user-friendly tech, making it ideal for urban commuting and also inter-state drives when needed (just understand battery charging locations).

It is one of the most budget-friendly EVs in Malaysia, with the Bingo Pro starting at RM67,800 and the Bingo Max at RM72,800. Early bird offers have seen prices drop as reasonable as RM62,800.
When it had its first Malaysia showing in July 2025, the estimated selling price was just below RM99k but with strong local assembly practises, the current selling price is very hard to ignore.
The Bingo Pro variant features a MAGIC 31.9kWh battery (333km CLTC), while the Max offers a 37.9kWh MAGIC battery (410km CLTC which we are test driving here). Both support 50kW DC fast charging, allowing a 30 to 80% charge in roughly 35 minutes.
By the way, SAIC-GM-Wuling’s (is China’s most established automotive manufacturer with more than two decades of EV innovation) proprietary “MAGIC” battery system has been tested across more than three million EVs worldwide with zero recorded fire incidents, demonstrating exceptional real-world safety performance. It has successfully passed extensive durability and safety tests, including heat and fire exposure, over-discharge, over charge, external short-circuit, nail penetration and pressure testing.
Contrary to some regional variants (like in Indonesia it gets less safer features), this model comes with six airbags, along with standard ABS, EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Both variants are built with 1,500 MPa ultra-high tensile steel. The “MAGIC Battery” has also undergone rigorous safety testing with not a single recorded fire incident globally.
The “MAGIC Battery” is also IP68-rated, ensuring the powertrain remains safe even during heavy rain or flash floods, a critical consideration for Malaysian drivers.
Known for easy manoeuvrability in dense urban environments, driving the Bingo is surprisingly good in the city because of its very small 5.1 metres turning radius and comfortable ride over potholed and uneven road surfaces.
The front suspension is a MacPherson strut setup and the rear suspension features a torsion beam rear axle. The suspension, along with 15-inch wheels, is aimed at providing a comfortable ride for a compact B-segment hatchback and it does this very well.
Both the Pro and Max variants use a 50 kW front-mounted motor (68PS / 150Nm), providing linear and “smooth acceleration” ideal for stop-and-go city environments.

The braking system features four-wheel disc brakes combined with advanced safety technologies with ABS, EBD and ESC. It also includes an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with an auto-hold function for enhanced convenience in urban heavy traffic driving conditions.
Features like walk-away lock which simplify’s the “get-in-and-go” experience for daily errands, power-adjustable driver’s seat and dual 10.25-inch screens for instruments and infotainment, including support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto has it ticking almost all the necessary must have ‘boxes’ for car buyers in this price segment.
Despite its small footprint, it offers a clever interior layout with 15 storage compartments and a massive boot capacity of up to 1,240 litres when the rear seats are folded.
Owners get a 8-year or 120,000km warranty for the battery, a 8-year or 160,000km warranty for the drive motor and 5-year vehicle warranty (terms apply).
