23 luxury vehicles of various types and brands in Sarawak have been confiscated by JPJ for various offences since the beginning of this year until 5 April.
This recent continuing strict enforcement action by JPJ in all states including Sarawak highlights a strict “no compromise” approach toward vehicle compliance, regardless of a car’s price tag or the owner’s status.
The Ops Luxury crackdown on the 8th of April had 23 luxury vehicles seized across many areas in Sarawak. A total of 900 plus vehicles have already been seized and fined to date.
The primary reasons for seizure were expired Motor Vehicle Licenses (LKM/Road Tax) and a lack of valid insurance coverage.
A notable seizure occurred last Sunday on Jalan Datuk Daud, Kuching, involving a Ferrari found with both an expired LKM and no insurance. The seizure, which occurred a few days ago in April 2026, was due to multiple violations under the Road Transport Act 1987, including, expired road tax (Motor Vehicle License).

This exclusive Novitec N-Largo (based on the Ferrari F12 pictured above), known for its wide-body kit and extreme rarity was not spared by JPJ Sarawak.

JPJ has stated that Ops Luxury has no end date and will be carried out comprehensively throughout the state, not just in specific hotspots.
The Malaysian road transport department is emphasising the principle that “the law knows no degree,” meaning luxury car owners face the same legal requirements and consequences as any other road user. For Malaysian luxury vehicle owners breaking the law, this serves as a reminder that high-performance cars are currently under increased scrutiny. It is essential to ensure all documentation is digitalised or updated via the MyJPJ app to avoid immediate impoundment.
