Is there a dealership tussle in progress for Rolls Royce Cars Malaysia
In the past few months there has been some rumblings coming about the Rolls Royce business in Malaysia and very very very little solid information has come from the ‘parents’ office in Cyberjaya and nothing from the brand guardian.
Even the regional office in Singapore has been very quiet. No response from our email to them.
Meanwhile, we are being contacted by ex-staff and some people close to the matter on a ‘power tussle’ in progress.
Well, more like a brand ownership tussle. The brand guardian of Rolls Royce in Malaysia has not moved much metal in the last 2 years and in the last year almost nothing.
Yes, there was the delivery of a very bespoke Spectre (A Datuk’s very special unit) last last year to a friend of ours, but that vehicle was ordered and paid for much earlier.
Meanwhile, no word on the launch of the all new models which are one year due. Singapore and Thailand have already launched and taken orders. This of course allows Approved Permit Kings to buy from Rolls Royce Provenence UK and sell hardly used units to eager Malaysians not willing to wait long or pay for a full priced Roller.
Then a few months ago, a very interesting newspaper advertisement was placed, stating that their Approved Permit partner was no longer acting on their behalf. With an article published mentioning this rather surprising advertisement, we got quite a lot of feedback on other issues within the walls of the dealership.
Then an email came stating the confirmation of business as usual at the dealership.
Now we hear news from the hospital next door (we have an observer working there) to the dealership that the Malaysian Royal Customs paid a visit to the dealership last week Friday afternoon and some brand new Rollers were taken away. Was it a tax issue or was it a bonded warehouse document renewal issue?
Meanwhile, we now hear rumblings from another hospital observer (this is in Sunway area) that there are some discussions with a current supercar brand guardian (an Italian and also British brand) who recently started an EV dealerships looking to expand their portfolio with the Rolls Royce brand.
Interesting right. Well, looks like a Netflix series in the making and we are working on the 8 series script as you read this short article.
Meanwhile, in Malaysia we also have immigration officers able to own a Rolls Royce ….. but a used unit.
