Jetour, GWM AND Hyundai Are Supporting The G20 Summit In South Africa

3 car companies are separately supporting the upcoming G20 summit in Johannesberg.

It’s not uncommon for car companies to support large international events, but often car brands pay a little extra to get exclusive rights to be the official ‘mobility partner’ of the event. Not the case for the upcoming G20 Leaders’ Summit 2025 that’s happening in Johannesberg, South Africa. There, three car brands have all committed to providing vehicles and will have to fight it out for media publicity.

GWM Tank 500 at G20 Summit 2025

The first brand that caught our attention was Great Wall Motor (GWM) with a slick looking Facebook post featuring a line of Tank 500 vehicles all in black and the caption: “Proudly supporting the G20 Summit with a fleet of TANK 500s, where refined luxury meets commanding capability. A powerful presence for a global stage.”

However, when looking for the press release, we learnt that Hyundai and Jetour both were also pledging their support to the event. Hyundai’s press release says that it will provide the official vehicles for the 2025 G20 Leaders’ Summit. They will supply units of the STARIA thanks to its expansive interior and highly configurable cabin. In fact, they signed a Memorandum of Understanding with South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation to this effect.

Jetour attempted to one-up everyone by becoming the ‘automotive brand sponsoring the largest number of vehicles’ for the summit. The brand was launched there just last year and it has committed 70 Jetout T2 SUVs to be used by the VIP Protection Services as convoy cars to transport Foreign Ministers and dignataries between hotels and the expo centre where the G20 Summit is being held.

This year’s G20 Summit is especially significant because it will mark the first time it’s being hosted on the African continent. It’s also the 20th G20 summit, which has to count for something. G20 member states include Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the UK and the USA. The European Union and the African Union. The G20 nations are responsible for 85% of the gross world product, 75% of international trade, 56% of the global population and 60% of the world’s land area.
