Xiaomi Sets A Target For 550,000 EV Sales In 2026

Xiaomi aims for 550,000 EV sales in 2026 after delivering 410,000 in 2025, with its 500,000th car rolling off the Beijing super factory in under 20 months since the SU7 launch, underscoring its rapid rise in China’s EV market.

Xiaomi’s ambitious target is supported by a planned expansion of its product line and strong performance in its initial years in the EV market. The company plans to become the fastest automaker in history to reach one million cumulative sales, achieving this milestone in just its third year of production.

To support this growth, Xiaomi plans to launch four battery powered new models in 2026:

  • A refreshed version of the Xiaomi SU7 sedan.
  • An executive version of the Xiaomi SU7.
  • A five-seat range-extended EV SUV.
  • A seven-seat range-extended EV SUV.

The company’s EV business achieved its first quarterly profit in the third quarter of 2025, demonstrating strong momentum and confidence for accelerated growth.

The production capacity at its Beijing super factory is reportedly sufficient to meet or even exceed the 550,000 target, making the goal a strategic judgment on demand expectations and product mix rather than a manufacturing limitation.

Xiaomi is executing a multi-pillar global strategy centered on technological self-reliance, the expansion of its “Human x Car x Home” ecosystem, and aggressive growth in the electric vehicle (EV) sector.

Xiaomi’s primary goal for 2026 is achieving independence from foreign suppliers for core components.

Xiaomi is deploying its first fully in-house developed 3nm-class mobile flagship chip, the XRing O1, to power its premium smartphones and tablets.

The company is completing the transition to a self-developed operating system (Xiaomi HyperOS) across all devices to ensure seamless integration between phones, smart homes, and cars.

Large-scale AI model implementation is a foundational priority for 2026, with AI being woven into imaging systems, autonomous driving, and the HyperOS interface.

After reaching profitability in its EV business in late 2025, Xiaomi is scaling up production and vehicle variety in 2026.

The 2026 roadmap targets 550,000 vehicle deliveries, a 34% increase from 2025. Xiaomi is launching new vehicle categories, including a large SUV (codenamed “Kunlun”) and potentially hybrid/extended-range EVs to cater to practical, long-range needs.

While focused on domestic market dominance in 2026, the company is using its European R&D center in Munich to prepare for a major global EV launch in 2027.

Xiaomi is deepening its ecosystem beyond smartphones to own more “touchpoints” in daily life.

Premiumization: The smartphone strategy focuses on high-end market share with the

Xiaomi 17 Ultra and strategic imaging partnerships with Leica.

Xiaomi is aggressively launching Mijia-branded home appliances (refrigerators, washers, air conditioners) in international markets to broaden its smart home footprint.

In markets like India, Xiaomi is moving toward nearly 100% local manufacturing for its entire portfolio, including tablets and wearables, to improve cost efficiency and supply chain resilience.

Xiaomi aims to recycle a cumulative 38,000 tonnes of electronic waste by the end of 2026. The company is enforcing a mandate for smartphone supply chain partners to achieve an average annual carbon reduction of 5% starting in 2026.
