PRO-NET, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PROTON, has officially delivered a fleet of electrified vehicles to the Ministry of Transport (MOT).
In a significant move toward sustainable mobility, PRO-NET has handed over several key models to the Ministry of Transport, including the Proton e.MAS 7, Proton e.MAS 5, and the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV, alongside the smart #1. The ceremony, held at the MOT headquarters in Putrajaya on 11 March 2026, marks the next phase of a collaborative effort between the government and the automotive industry to transition toward a low-carbon future.

Evaluating EVs for Official Use
This handover follows a pledge made by multiple automotive brands in August 2025 to support the Ministry’s program for operational evaluation. Through this initiative, government stakeholders will gain firsthand experience with EV technology, allowing them to assess its suitability for daily official duties.

The program is designed to provide critical data on:
- Operational Practicality: How EVs perform in high-usage government environments.
- Infrastructure Needs: Identifying the requirements for charging facilities at government offices.
- Policy Shaping: Using real-world feedback to refine national electric mobility strategies.

Leading the Charge in Sustainable Mobility
Proton’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Ir Abdul Rashid Musa, emphasized that providing these vehicles is a key part of the company’s commitment to accelerating Malaysia’s green transition. As the country’s leading EV brand, Proton is playing a pivotal role in ensuring that decision-makers understand the nuances of electrified transportation.

The inclusion of both pure battery electric vehicles (BEV) and plug-in hybrids (PHEV) like the e.MAS 7 PHEV ensures a comprehensive evaluation, covering various driving ranges and usage patterns.
Building a Greener Ecosystem
The collaboration between PRO-NET and government agencies is more than just a vehicle delivery; it represents a commitment to building a complete EV ecosystem in Malaysia. By working closely with industry partners and regulators, Proton e.MAS aims to ensure that the adoption of new energy vehicles is supported by robust infrastructure and customer-centric service.
