Great Wall Motor (GWM) holds a strong, pioneering position in the Thailand automotive market, particularly within the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) sector, where it ranks among the leading Chinese brands. As the first fully-owned Chinese OEM to enter Thailand after acquiring General Motors’ Rayong plant in 2020, GWM has established a comprehensive “smart new energy” ecosystem that includes manufacturing, local assembly, and a strong EV portfolio, with over 10,000 units of the ORA 03 (Good Cat) delivered as of early 2024.

GWM is a top competitor in the Thai EV market, driven by the popularity of the ORA Good Cat. By early 2024, it became the first Chinese OEM to achieve mass production of pure EVs (BEV) in Thailand.

GWM recorded 12,840 units in 2023, marking a 10% year-on-year growth. The company reported record-breaking sales in 2025 recording 18,096 units sold which is a 146% year-on-year increase from 2024. The company has set a target of 25,000 units for 2026, aiming for 40% growth.

GWM is highly recognized for its after-sales service, ranking within the top 3 brands in the 2025 Customer Experience Index (CXI) survey, with a 97% parts fill rate.

GWM utilizes a “direct sales” model with fixed prices and high-tech, user-centric service to gain trust among Thai consumers, distinguishing itself in the price-sensitive mass market.

Meanwhile, GWM continues a record breaking sales run globally. While it may not be the most visible, GWM Malaysia nevertheless actually quietly put together a very strong 2025. Such is as the automaker has just announced that it achieved an impressive 177% year-on-year increase in sales over here, with a total of 5,876 vehicles registered.
