The long weekend Hari Raya celebration excitement of the journey home turned sad when a Perodua Ativa was involved in an accident and capsized into a large drain near Puncak Titiwangsa R&R Stop, Monday morning along the busy East-West Highway.
The tragic incident happened at about 11.20 a.m., and it was a collision with a Kia Forte which left one man confirmed dead at the scene, while five other victims sustained injuries.
Firefighters from BBP Gerik and BBP Jeli rushed to the location after receiving an emergency call at 11.24am, and had to use special equipment to remove the victim trapped in the vehicle.
All the injured victims have been sent to Jeli Hospital for further treatment, while the body of the victim was handed over to the police for further action.
Hopefully those who are injured will be healed and all their affairs will be made easy.
This event is another reminder for all of us to always be careful on the road, no matter how far or how short our journey is.
