Audi Launches TTS in Malaysia for under RM390K
Barely half a year from launching the all-new third-generation Audi TT, Audi Malaysia once again ups the ante with the official introduction of the first ever official Audi S model in Malaysia, the fearless new Audi TTS coupé.
At the heart of the new TTS is Audi’s award-winning 2.0 litre TFSI engine that incorporates a 4-cylinder in-line petrol engine with direct fuel injection, exhaust gas turbocharging and Audi valvelift system as well as a 6-speed S tronic transmission that allow the new Audi TTS to develop a maximum output of 286 hp and a maximum torque of 380 Nm between a range of 1,800 and 5,200 rpm.
With this top-of-the-line powertrain, the engineers at Audi AG also recalibrated numerous components of the TTS to ensure that this car delivers on its promise of a pure performance sports car, including the installation of reinforced aluminium pistons, connecting rods, bearings and crankcases, the addition of a large turbocharger with a maximum charge pressure of up to 1.2 bar and a capacity of up to 1,000 kilogrammes (2,204.6 lbs) of air per hour, as well as a high-performance air-to-air intercooler to reduce the engine temperature at a rapid rate.
When combined with Audi’s proprietary quattro® system and TTS-exclusive 19” forged aluminium wheels, this fearless sports coupé is able to make the century sprint in an exhilarating 4.7 seconds, a full 1.2 seconds faster than the standard TT coupé, with an electronically-governed top speed of 250 km/h. Despite its staggering performance, the TTS is still highly fuel-efficient, with a combined fuel consumption rating of 6.9 litres/100km and a CO₂ emission of just 159 g/km.
The Audi drive select dynamic driving system that comes standard on the Audi TTS, providing five distinct driving modes, namely Auto, Comfort, Dynamic, Efficiency and Individual. Depending on the setting, the new Audi TTS is automatically configured to be either relatively comfortable, dynamically balanced based on driving styles or decidedly taut and ready for whatever roads lie ahead.
The new Audi TTS also includes numerous safety and efficiency features such as parking aid plus with selective display, an automatic rear spoiler that deploys at speeds above 120km/h to improve the car’s aerodynamics and high-speed stability, Electronic Stabilisation Control (ESC) which includes Traction Control (ASR), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and a total of six airbags.
The exterior of the Audi TTS features the familiar and timeless silhouette of the Audi TT coupé, but augmented with new features that underline its bold aspirations. Starting from the front, LED headlights with LED daytime running lights and all-weather lights as standard ensure the new Audi TTS makes an impactful arrival at any time of day. To distinguish itself from the conventional TT coupé, the Audi TTS sports a number of unique design features besides the TTS badging, including TTS-specific radiator grille with aluminium design, TTS-specific front and rear bumper with diffuser, aerodynamic side sills, aluminium-look exterior mirrors and sporty four oval tailpipes underlining its enhanced athletic capabilities.
Step into the interior of the new Audi TTS and you will be greeted with the iconic design elements of the TT coupé including the distinctive air conditioning vents with integrated controls and display as well as the revolutionary Audi virtual cockpit, integrating the traditional instrument cluster and Audi’s own proprietary interface system, MMI (Multimedia Interface) navigation plus with MMI Touch into a singular 12.3-inch, high-resolution digital interface with 1,440 X 540 pixels that is focused on the driver.
Other TTS-specific interior features also include electrically adjustable S sport front seats, TTS sports contour leather-covered steering wheel with multifunction plus and shift paddles, matt brushed aluminium inlays, “S” badge scuff plates in both door apertures and an innovative honeycomb-like laser texture for the dashboard for an unrivalled sporty appeal. Last but not least, entertainment in the TTS is covered with a Bang & Olufsen sound system with DVD drive, 14-channel amplifier and 12-loudspeakers giving a total output of 680 watts.
The new Audi TTS is offered in eleven colour choices: Glacier White, Scuba Blue, Tango Red, Floret Silver, Monsoon Grey, Nano Grey, Brilliant Black, Mythos Black and Daytona Grey with pearl effect, along with TTS-exclusive colours, Vegas Yellow and Sepang Blue with pearl effect.
Available from today at all authorised Audi dealerships nationwide, the Audi TTS is priced from RM 389,900, with optional Matrix LEDs and rear-view camera available for RM5,000 and RM2,500 respectively.
