Perodua rolls out its 1.7 millionth vehicle

Perodua reached another milestone when it rolled out its 1.7 millionth vehicle in its relatively short 17-year history. Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin bin Hj Mohd Yassin officiated the line-off ceremony held at Perodua plant here today. Also present were Minister of International Trade and Industry, Dato’ Sri Mustapa bin Mohamed and Deputy Minister of Human Resources YB Senator Datuk Maznah binti Mazlan.

“A total of 1.7 million vehicles were produced in the span of 17 years and this is a very proud moment for us, our vendors, dealers and business partners,” En. Aminar Rashid Salleh, Perodua managing director said. The 1.7
millionth vehicle, an ALZA standard variant, was rolled out at a simple yet significant ceremony officiated by the Deputy Prime Minister. The Perodua plant has the capacity to produce up to 250,000 vehicles a year on a 2-shift cycle. Perodua also contributed RM5,000 each to 5 local schools located in the vicinity of the Perodua headquarters as part of its corporate responsibility programme.

The schools were SMK Taman Bunga Raya (1), SJK (T) Ladang Sungai Choh, SKJ (C) Serendah, SMK Sungai Choh and Sekolah Kebangsaan Serendah. Perodua recently announced its first quarter results, which saw a massive jump in registration by over 24% to 48,000 units from 38,000 units in the same quarter last year and is on its way to achieving its 2010 target of 176,000 units.
