Statement by Perodua Managing Director on Perodua’s operations

Rawang, 7 April: Perodua today said that its operations are impacted by the earthquake and tsunami which hit Japan on 11 March 2011. Our operations are affected by this calamity and we are currently assessing the situation to understand better the impact on our operations. Based on the latest information, the inventories at Perodua’s plant and our vendors are sufficient till May production with some adjustments. We are in direct and continued communications with our partner in Japan, Daihatsu Motor Co Ltd, as well as our local vendors to have a better and clearer picture of the problems and appropriate countermeasures to be taken.
Concurrently we will update our staff, vendors, dealers and other stakeholders as the situation and problem become clearer. We foresee this problem as a temporary setback and we appreciate the patience and understanding of all parties especially our customers.
