BMW 1Series Gets A 2nd Generation
BMW has been quiet about the arrival of the next generation 1 Series. Now we have the official pictures and some details prior to its full unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show just months away. The new design language of the BMW lineup is clear with this car and with its sights set for the Golf, A1 and Focus buyers, its pricing will define its success here in Malaysia where the previous BMW 1 Series did not take in much success due mostly to its high pricing.
This new 1 Series features a longer 2.69 meter (105.9 inch) wheelbase, offers more space and as well as an increased luggage capacity of 200 liters (7 cubic feet). No confirmation on the possible engines to be introduced locally but we expect the see the new 1.6-liter petrol engine delivering 134bhp, as well as a more powerful versions delivering 168bhp and 247bhp. A diesel powered version will definitely be launched using the proven turbocharged 2.0-liter we see now in service with the X1 and the popular 320d.
