0Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4) Gets New Hearts For 2012
The Discovery 4 will get some improvements in its next model starting with a new ZF 8HP70, 8-speed automatic transmission on the 3.0-liter SDV6 diesel engine. The V8 powered Range Rover in 2011 was fitted with this gearbox, improving fuel economy to 8.8 liters per 100 kilometers in the combined European test cycle. Its CO2 emissions level was also brought down from 244g/km to 230g/km. The 2012 Discovery 4 will also get the ‘Drive Select’ rotary gear shift and steering wheel-mounted paddle shift found in the Range Rover.
The 3.0-liter V6 diesel for the 2012 model year delivers 256hp (from 245hp) while peak torque is at 600Nm (443 lb-ft). This enables the vehicle to sprint from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 9.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 112 mpg (180 km/h). External changes start with four more alloy wheel choices, three new optional equipment packages, and an improved audio and navigation systems across the range. The latest Vission Assist Pack comes with Xenon Adaptive Front Headlamps that include Cornering Lamps, Automatic Headlamps with High Beam Assist and the Surround Camera System with Approach Lamps, Tow Assist and Tow Hitch Assist are also included. Arrival in Malaysia early 2012.
