Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Posts Best Ever Half Year Sales Performance
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has achieved a new high in its sales performance, posting the companyâ€™s best ever half year performance for its overall sales of passenger cars and commercial vehicles. MBM registered an outstanding growth of 22.6 per cent, selling 3900 units compared to 3182 units in the same period last year.Â Sales of its passenger cars also hit a new high, increasing 11 per cent to 2688 units compared to 2417 units in 2010. Mercedes-Benz reinforced its position as the leading premium passenger car brand in the country with this latest performance.Â
â€śWeâ€™ve had an exceptional first half sales performance for Mercedes-Benz Malaysia that has helped us establish three new records in this period. Besides the best half year sales performance, we have also recorded the best ever second quarter with 2178 vehicles sold and the best ever June with 480 vehicles sold.
â€śThe results clearly show that Mercedes-Benz is the preferred premium brand amongst customers in the segment with 47 per cent. Sales of our commercial vehicles have also exceeded expectations, especially the very encouraging response to our Mitsubishi FUSO vehicles,â€ť said Roland S. Folger, President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia at a media briefing today.
Spurred by encouraging demand year-on-year and buoyant consumer spending, MBM plans to introduce several new models this year inclusive of the S-Class models launched last month and the new generation C-Class unveiled at the briefing.
The new generation C-Class features Mercedes-Benzâ€™ latest innovations including design updates, new assistance systems for additional safety, new driving assistance systems, efficiency-enhancing measures and internet access with navigation display for the C250 BlueEFFICIENCY.Â â€śWe are very excited to officially launch our new generation C-Class by end of this month as the demand for this trendy model has been very significant. Following closely on the heels of the launch of the new S-Class models, we are confident these new variants will further extend our market share in their individual premium segments while satisfying customersâ€™ demand for the latest cars from our marquee.â€ť Folger commented.Â The trendy Mercedes-Benz C-Class contributed 1044 units to total passenger car sales during the period under review.
MBM delivered 1188 units of the elegant and popular Mercedes-Benz E-Class to record an impressive 20 per cent increase compared to 988 units last year, cementing its position as the brandâ€™s top selling model.Â The C-Class and E-Class CGI BlueEFFICIENCY variants which received an overwhelming response from customers accounted for close to 70 per cent of overall passenger cars sales. The C250 CGI and the E250 CGI variants alone contributed a stunning 54 per cent and 47 per cent of sales in their respective classes.Â The much sought after Mercedes-Benz B-Class posted a stellar 180 per cent growth selling 274 units during the first six months of 2011. TheÂ brandâ€™s top of the line luxury, the renowned Mercedes-Benz S-Class remains the No. 1 choice in its segment with over 130 units delivered. Amongst the S-Class models, the spectacular S300L accounted for 75 per cent of total S-Class sales. The recent introduction of the S350L and S500 L Blue Direct expected to extend our market lead.
The powerful Mercedes-Benz M-Class continues to attract enthusiasts looking for a sturdy SUV complete with the luxury standards of a Mercedes-Benz while the comfortable family-oriented R-Class continues to retain commendable demand within its segment.
Meanwhile, the first half performance of MBMâ€™s commercial vehicles segment reflected improved activities at the ports and within the logistics and transportation sectors. Total sales of within this segment surged an outstanding 58 per cent to register sales of 1212 units.
Sales of Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles was up 117 per cent with 154 vehicle deliveries while Mitsubishi FUSO posted a remarkable 52 per cent increase with 1058 units sold compared to 694 units in H1 2011.Â Â
