BMW Group Malaysia Unveils the All New MINI Coupe
BMW Malaysia has introduced the all-new MINI Coupe at the brand new MINI Glenmarie showroom. As the first ever two-seater in the MINI family, this MINI Coupe provides a retro-modern interpretation of the super-compact sports car.
The fifth model of the new MINI generation to wear the British brand’s famous badge is also the first premium car of its genre, faithfully transplanting the MINI brand’s sporting genes into a cutting-edge vehicle concept that is sure to turn heads for all the right reasons. The unveiling of the new MINI Coupe also coincides with the official launch of the brand new MINI showroom in Glenmarie. As the third MINI showroom in Malaysia, this dedicated 4S (Sales, Service, Systems and Spare-parts) showroom will be the largest MINI showroom in the country at 3,300 sq. ft, whilst featuring a MINI merchandise corner and a MINI Service Advisor counter. Available in the Malaysian market from October 22nd onwards, the new MINI Coupe will be introduced in the single engine format – the 1.6 litre MINI Cooper S Coupe.
Already a well established powerplant for the MINI range, the 1.6 litre unit under the bonnet of the new MINI Cooper S Coupé comes with fully variable valve management as part of a technology package which also features a twin-scroll turbocharger and petrol direct injection developing 135kW/184 hp at 5,500 rpm. Not only does it make this mighty four-cylinder unit the world’s most efficient engine in its displacement class, but more importantly, it allows the new MINI Cooper S Coupe to hit the 0 to 100 km/h mark in just 7.1 seconds, whilst giving it a top speed of 224 km/h. These performance figures are even more impressive when set against the car’s average fuel consumption of only 6.7 litres per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 155 grams per kilometre.
The range of exterior paint finishes for the MINI Coupé body comprises eight colours including Chilli Red, Pepper White, Spice Orange, Midnight Black, British Racing Green II, Eclipse Grey, Lightning Blue and White Silver. The car’s roof is painted as standard in a contrasting colour; customers can choose from Jet Black or Pure Silver. The colours of the upholstery, meanwhile is a distinguished Carbon Black.
The retail price (on the road for personal registration, without insurance, with the MINI Tender Loving Care service package) for the new MINI Cooper S Coupe is RM 249, 888.
