Audi A6 TFSI Quattro, Drives Circles Around The E-Class

Audi in Malaysia has been having nothing but good sales and positive reviews for the past few years. Resale value of older models has been industry best and the competitors have been worrying with the growing trend of gray/used Audi vehicles flooding the parallel importers showrooms nationwide.  Local brand guardians, Euromobil have been working extra hard with after sales and parts inventory even for gray cars which brings the brands value a few notches up the desire ladder in Malaysia. We have just been given the latest A6 to test drive. The 3-liter TFSI Quattro. Priced at RM519,000 it is more expensive than the immediate rival, the Mercedes E300 but a tad cheaper than the BMW 528i.

The new design language of this A6 follows the highly successful A5 coupe. The roofline is sleek and stretches across providing for a larger sedan which is 4.92 meters (16.14 feet) long, 1.87 meters (6.14 feet) wide and 1.46 meters (4.79 feet) high. The new daytime running LEDs are inspiringly sexy and the rear tail-lamp treatment is no less exciting. This A6 sits flatter with a ground hugging stance. The 18inch alloys come shod with Bridgestone rubbers.

The interior fitment and materials are easily class best and with just a few minutes in the cabin you will realize what a high level of value had been put into this new A6. Run your fingers across the wood paneling, leather and metal trim and you will not be disappointed.

Ignite the TFSI engine and the cabin insulation will not allow you to hear it working. Shift the 7-speed gearbox into sports mode and this large sedan moves like a hyperactive child. This is no shortage of power delivery and the engine note on the upper levels is enjoyed in the cabin. 300 horses are delivered in pure class and the legendary Audi Quattro system will have you pushing this car around corners with more vigor. This cornering seduction alone gives the A6 an edge of the BMW while still returning passenger comfort which is legendary with Mercedes.

Audi offers the new A6 in 12 paint finishes. The two solid colors are called Ibis White and Brilliant Black. The eight metallic hues bear the names Aviator Blue, Dakota Gray, Ice Silver, Havana Black, Moonlight Blue, Oolong Gray, Quartz Gray and Glacier White. For an additional RM5,000 the pearl-effect colors Phantom Black and Garnet Red round out the selection.

Euromobil only offers one powerful petrol engine, the 3.0 TFSI mated to a 7-speed S-Tronic gearbox. The V6 delivers 300 hp of power and 440 Nm of torque. The A6 3.0 TFSI sprints from standing to 100km/h in 5.5 seconds and reaches an electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h (155.34 mph). It consumes on average 8.2 liters per 100 km and emits 190 g CO2 per km which is an advance of 13 percent over the previous model. Fuel consumption in the A6 has decreased by up to 19 percent compared to the previous model. In terms of consumption figures, the A6 outperforms the competition. Delivery of the new Audi A6 starts immediately.
