Jaguar F-Type Roadster Gets 2,000 Orders

More than 2,000 pre-orders have been received for Jaguars latest F-Type roadster. This is good news for Jaguar and shows the appeal this roadster will have in Malaysia when it is launched. Jaguar anticipates to sell 10,000 F-Types each year in the U.K alone. It also hopes to sell between 6000 and 7000 in Europe for 2013. The official sales targets for the markets in the U.S. haven’t been released yet but it’s believed to be lower than the 10,000 expected for Britain. In the first 10 months of 2012, Jaguar has sold only 10,249 cars between its XF, XJ, and XK model lines. Jaguar is aiming to have the 2014 Jaguar F-Type roadster compete with the Porsche 911 (with sales of 7244 units) and Boxster (2052 units), and Mercedes-Benz SLK (3723 units) in the U.S. until October 2012.

The 2014 F-Type will be available with three different powertrains: two six-cylinders and one eight-cylinder. The base F-Type model uses a supercharged V-6 that delivers 340 hp. The F-Type S offers 40 hp higher while the top-of-the-line F-Type V8 S produces 495 hp from a 5.0-liter supercharged V-8. These three powertrain options distribute power to the rear wheels with the use of an eight-speed automatic.
