VW Will Launch A Low Cost Brand To Rival Datsun

Volkswagen will be launching a new low cost brand to rival Nissan’s plan to sell low cost Datsun to 3rd world car markets. With the rising interest from automakers to tap demand for budget cars in fast-growing markets to offset falling sales in mature, stagnant markets such as Europe and Japan, VW will make this announcement soon. The world auto market will grow by 3.4 million cars between 2013 and 2015. Most of that growth can be tapped with affordable types of vehicles aimed at new buyers. Now that VW is entering this segment, many of the other car manufacturers will start their own assault. So what will they sell to the market. Would it then be better to hold on and maintain your older car as many features might have to be eliminated? Well the trick is finding the right amount of content/features to take out of the car to make it affordable. We will continue to hold on to our cars that are now more than 20 years old but have power steering, electric windows and side view mirrors, bucket seats, rear disc brakes, twin cam engines, climate control a/c and good fuel economy. Most of these features are missing in some ‘NEW’ low cost cars today……where all you get is shiny new paint and little else.
