Shell Lubricants has just launched the new Shell Rimula R4 X that offers superior triple protection to improve engine and oil durability in three critical areas:

Acid control and corrosion — protects against corrosion from the acids formed as fuel burns;
Deposits — keeps engines clean for optimum performance and long life; and
Engine wear — keeps moving metal engine surfaces apart for long engine life.

Shell Lubricants also announced the launch of the Shell Rimula ‘Win the Ride of Your Life’ global promotion featuring a consumer contest from April 1 till June 30, 2013. Six lucky Malaysian Grand Prize winners will not only go on a 5-day 4-night VIP trip to Prague, Czech Republic, but also enjoy the opportunity to ride on one of the 2013 European Truck Racing Championship trucks around the Autodrom Most circuit.
Hardworking truckers will be glad to know that the popular Shell Rimula Hardworking Truck will again be greeting them at the selected locations nationwide during the three-month period with free drinks and gifts following last year’s overwhelming response.

Shell Rimula R4 X 15W-40 is the latest product to join the market-leading Shell Rimula range of high performance heavy duty diesel engine oils following the introduction of the Shell Rimula R5 LE synthetic technology and Shell Rimula R6 LM fully synthetic oils last year.
Shell Rimula R4 X contains a specially optimised combination of performance additives and chemicals designed to provide the right level of engine cleanliness, wear and oxidation protection under tough conditions in engines with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR).  It is suitable for a wide range of vehicle types, from heavy and large trucks to buses and construction heavy equipment.
EGR introduces some exhaust gas into the inlet air charge to reduce peak combustion temperatures. These gases contain acids (sulphurous and sulphuric) and soot particles that can have a detrimental effect on oil performance in terms of corrosion and soot-induced wear. EGR can lead to higher oil temperatures, which stress the oil further.
Shell Rimula R4 X helps to prevent oil thickening and the formation of harmful deposits in all areas of the engine, including the bulk oil in the sump and the thin oil films at high temperatures in the piston ring belt area. It provides a high level of soot dispersancy through the use of optimised levels of selected dispersant additives and enables protection at higher soot levels (up to 6%), as demonstrated in EGR engine specification tests.
Shell Rimula R4 X offers superior engine wear protection through the addition of anti-wear additives that are designed to form protective films in metal-to-metal contacts under different engine operating conditions.  The API CI-4 specification compliant Shell Rimula R4 X also meets a wider range of industry and original equipment manufacturers’ (OEM) specifications, including Caterpillar ECF-2 and JASO DH-1.
Shell Rimula heavy-duty diesel engine oils have been developed for the latest on- and off-highway vehicles. They are designed to protect engines, thus helping to lower maintenance and fuel costs, and increase reliability to keep vehicles running.  In addition to the full range of Shell Rimula heavy-duty engine oils, Shell Lubricants also offers a complete portfolio of lubricants for every part of your equipment, including Shell Spirax gear, axle and transmission fluids, and Shell Gadus greases.
