Volkswagen POLO Takes World Rally Championship
Volkswagen has secured the manufacturers’ title* to go with its other two trophies in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) thanks to a dominant performance at the Rally Spain. After clinching the Drivers’ and Co-Drivers’ Championship three weeks ago, Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia (F/F) celebrated a remarkable win on the Costa Daurada.
Their team-mates Jari-Matti Latvala/Miikka Anttila (FIN/FIN) took second place to give the German car maker its first one-two victory in the WRC. Winning three titles in its debut year with the Polo R WRC is Volkswagen’s greatest motorsport achievement.
