Mid-engined Veloster Being Tested

Hyundai are in the midst of testing a mid-engined version of its Veloster, as evidenced by photos taken of the prototype in South Korea. Very little is known about the project at this juncture, but from what the photographs tell us, it will be lower than the outgoing model and sport a very strange 2-tone paint finish, with the doors and mirrors being painted differently from the rest of the body panels.

When Hyundai first revealed their Veloster Midship Concept in March of last year, it featured a 2 litre turbocharged petrol engine capable of pushing out 300 hp and was described as a “mini supercar”.  It even featured an aluminium suspension and a chassis that was strengthened for extra rigidity. At the time, Hyundai said it would remain a concept car, but this sighting could be proof that the Korean carmaker is thinking about an actual production version.
