Wind down the day to the tune of 5 cylinders: the Audi RS3

For now, the Audi RS3 is one of the hottest hatches you can get on the market. It may not be available here yet, but it’s taking the rest of the world by storm- the perfect blend of restrained aggression and a fantastic powerplant to back up the looks.

Audi created a series of videos for the RS3 called “Born Restless”, implying that mild cliche that the RS3 is a beast waiting to be unleashed. You get the idea, and it doesn’t bear repeating again.

All we know is that it sounds angry. That turbocharged 5-cylinder motor may not be as loud and proud as the one in the original Audi Quattro, but it certainly knows how to turn heads.

And of course, that quattro all-wheel-drive system has to be featured in one way or another. It’s Audi’s claim to fame, after all. It also gives the Audi RS3 an edge over the general mish-mash of front-wheel drive hot hatches, and allows it to properly focus on cars like the A45 AMG.

With similar outputs to the A45, it’s unsurprising if the two were to come very close in a comparison test. That being said, Audi’s long standing experience with all-wheel drive systems and low grip situations may make the RS3 a more effective weapon in a wider range of conditions. We can only hope it’ll arrive on our shores in due time.
