We’ve talked about the Concept M4 GTS a fair bit over the past few months, and we even had the concept show up at Sepang during the recent BMW M Track Experience. But BMW has finally confirmed that the M4 GTS will become a reality, with just 700 units up for grabs of this limited run model.
It’s not just an aesthetics package, much like the previous generation M3 GTS. Clocking 7 minutes and 28 seconds around the Nordschleife (despite the supposed ban on lap times at the ‘ring), this limited run model has power pushed up to 500 hp and torque to 600 Nm. This comes as a result of the previously mentioned water injection system, which helps to cool and stabilize the intake charge under high boost pressures. Just don’t forget to top up the reservoir every now and then.
So far, it seems the model is only fitted with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission and no manual option. There’s a lot of carbon fibre, CFRP, and GFRP to drop the weight down to just over 1.5 tonnes. Adjustable suspension components and an adjustable wing allows drivers to dial in their car for track use. It’s a pretty impressive package on the whole, although it’s likely that nearly every unit has been accounted for at this point. Keep an eye out on the second hand market if you hope to buy one at some point.
