0Introducing A More Convincing Mother Trucker – The US-market V8 Nissan Titan
Making a preview at the 2016 New York International Auto Show is the gigantic Titan Crew Cab half-ton pickup which only arrives at Nissan dealers throughout America this summer. As you can imagine, there is a substantial engine underneath that bonnet – a new 390 horsepower 5.6-liter V8 petrol engine.
This engine, which is also featured in the Titan XD V8 petrol, will be mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission with Adaptive Shift Control and Downshift Rev Matching. A V6 petrol engine will also be available at a later date.
“The 2017 Titan half-ton has the same aggressive style of the Titan XD, but is about a foot shorter in wheelbase,” said Fred Diaz, division vice president and general manager, North America Trucks and Light Commercial Vehicles, Nissan North America, Inc., referring to the ‘other’ Titan variant launched earlier but sitting on a totally different platform.
The new Titan is 5793.7mm long – 373.3mm less than the larger Titan XD (6167.1mm). The 2017 Titan half-ton will initially launch as a Crew Cab model, with Single and King Cab variants planned for later in the model year.
The new V8-powered TITAN XD also offers a range of popular equipment packages, allowing buyers to fine-tune the exact features they desire for work or family use.
But let’s be real, there is no way the Titan is ever going to be introduced here, but let’s just amuse ourselves with its price range. The starting price for the Titan XD Crew Cab 4×2 is $35,290. All in all, there will initially be five Crew Cab trim levels, both in 4×4 and 4×2 drive configurations.
