Alfa 4C Gets Lighter
The beautiful mid-engined Alfa Romeo coupe returns for 2016. Not a lot in the way of changes, but a formula of a sexy Italian sportscar weighing a svelte 2465 lbs may be all that really matters. Power comes by way of a turbocharged & intercooled 1750 cc engine producing 237 hp, enough to propel the 4C from 0-60 in 4.1 seconds, all the way up to a top speed of 160 mph. Power is transmitted through a Alfa TCT, or twin-clutch transmission, operated via paddle shifters, with gear changes as fast as 130 milliseconds.
The turbocharger uses a pulse converter exhaust manifold to use pressure waves to boost torque at low engine speeds. Peak torque is 258 lb-ft, 80% of which is available at a low 1700 rpm.
