Proton Renewed Its Collective Agreement with Worker’s Unions

PROTON Holdings Bhd. has renewed its Collective Agreement (“CA”) with its union members at a recent signing ceremony held at PROTON Centre of Excellence here in Subang Jaya, Selangor.

The agreement was signed and concluded on 19 August 2016 between Dato’ Ahmad Fuaad Kenali, Chief Executive Officer of PROTON and the union presidents, En. Mohd Azmi Abu Bakar representing Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Sdn Bhd (“PONSB”) workers’ union and En. Ferdaus Mohni representing Proton Tanjung Malim Sdn Bhd (“PTMSB”) workers’ union. The ceremony was witnessed by PROTON Chairman, YBhg Dato’ Sri Syed Faisal Albar and Mr. Fong Khei Por, Director General of the Industrial Relations Department, Malaysia.

The CAs were signed to replace the existing CAs which expired in December 2015. The CAs are renewable once every 3 years. With the spirit of “One Company Mindset” and the “Management-Union as a Team” the renewed CAs marked improved collaboration and understanding between both parties.

The CAs provides certain improvements for employees which include alignment with new minimum wage order, employee insurance for personal accident, term life, medical insurance and bereavement benefits.

In line with efforts to turnaround the Company, Dato’ Fuaad said “Subject to affordability consideration, PROTON has always prioritised the welfare and benefits of its employees. The Company fully appreciates that in order to achieve more for its business, it needs to work closely with its employees to serve our customers better.”

The renewed CA between the management and the union is the 10th for PONSB and the 4th for PTMSB.
