Motordata Research Consortium Signs Agreements with Thatcham, Proton and PIAM
Motordata Research Consortium Sdn Bhd (MRC) has further strengthen its position as Malaysia’s key organization responsible for improving the motor vehicle repair and claims processing industry with the signing of three agreements with Thatcham Research, Proton Holdings Bhd and The General Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM), at its annual symposium that was held here recently.
Under a new partnership arrangement with Thatcham Research, the MRC has signed agreements to license software that can help to standardize motor vehicle insurance claims. Included in this agreement is a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Proton to research and distribute data on local vehicle repair times. With this arrangement, the automaker will soon be able to offer detailed vehicle repair information specifically for the local market. Such effort will enhance customer satisfaction and experience by providing an overall lower cost as well as better quality guided by standard maintenance repair works.
Steve Miller, CEO of the MRC said, “The new agreements will bring great benefit in terms of giving us a benchmark and standards for motor vehicle repair and claims processing, especially once the motor insurance is fully liberalised in July. I am very happy to continue extending our collaboration with Thatcham Research, whereby the MRC can leverage the experience and expertise that Thatcham already has in this industry”.
MRC’s commitment to be the sole provider in data collection for the insurance industry has also led to a new extended agreement with PIAM, to include training and accreditation programs for employees within the motor vehicle repair industry. The accreditations come with an international award from The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI).
Since 2012, MRC has been conducting regular training programs in vehicle damage assessment that are certified by the IMI and are recognized globally. MRC plans to work towards accrediting the whole industry by the end of 2017 as part of its ‘Duty of Care’ quality standards program.
