New Honda City Facelift Launched in Malaysia

The new Honda City facelift has been launched officially in Malaysia, a month after orders were opened. This time, the B-segment sedan is offered in three variants – S, E and V – with a more comprehensive list of equipment than the previous model.

That said, there are no changes on the mechanical front, where the new City retains the 1.5-litre four-cylinder i-VTEC engine and the Earth Dreams CVT combo that produces 120 PS at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 4,600 rpm. It is certified as an Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) with an average fuel consumption of 5.7 litres for every 100 km.

Styling-wise, the new City now sports the familiar Solid Wing Face first seen on the Civic along with new headlight and chrome grille design. Developed under Honda’s ‘Man Maximum, Machine Minimum’ principle, the cabin maximises space for driver, passengers and goods with a trunk space of 536 litres and 60:40 foldable rear seats.

The range-topping V variant comes standard with LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED front fog lights, LED taillights and ducktail spoiler with integrated LED brake lights.

In the cabin, the V variant features leather seats, leather steering wheel and gear knob, paddle shifters, 6.8-inch audio display with eight speakers as well as multi-angle reverse camera. For a clearer comparison of the specifications, refer to the table below.

In terms of safety, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) are now fitted as standard across all variants. The V variant has six airbags including side and curtain airbags, while the E and S have four and two airbags, respectively. For that, the new City gets a five-star rating from ASEAN NCAP.

Honda Malaysia has managed to maintain the price at RM84,600 for the E and RM92,000 for the V. The base S variant is priced at RM78,300, which is RM1,000 lower than the previous S+ variant, despite having more features.

The car will be offered in five colours, namely Lunar Silver Metallic, Dark Ruby Red Pearl, Taffeta White, Modern Steel Metallic and Crystal Black Pearl. To add a touch of sportiness and individuality, Honda Malaysia is offering the Honda Genuine Accessories Package with prices starting from RM820.

The warranty for the new City will be maintained at five years with unlimited mileage and 10,000 km service intervals that can be done at any of the 88 Honda dealers nationwide. Additionally, the company is also rewarding its customers, especially new City owners with two years of free service (parts and labour) through their 3S (Sales, Service, Spare Parts) promotion.
