2018 Toyota Dream Car Art Contest Opens

2018 Toyota Dream Car Art Contest (2018 DCAC), a world-wide drawing competition, is now open for participation to all children of age 15 years and below. In 2017, the contest was organised in 79 countries globally and more than 829,000 entries under the theme ‘’Your Dream Car“ were received. Malaysian children have keenly participated in the program since 2013.

The contest is divided into three categories based on age of the children – under 8 years of age, 8 to 11 years and 12 to 15 years. Three innovative drawings from each category will be submitted to Japan for world contest. In Malaysia, the contest is carried out as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility commitment by UMW Toyota Motor yearly. The national contest is open from 1 December 2017 until 20 February 2018.

The first prize for the contest in Malaysia is an Apple iPad mini, followed by a mountain bike for the second prize and Legoland Theme Park ticket for the third placing. Other complimentary prizes including MPH vouchers are for Instagram contest which require participants to hashtag #mydcac2018.

Drawing by nine of the winners from Malaysia will be sent for the world contest. Finalists are chosen by a team of prominent art judges at the global selection level based on the submission from the rest of the world. The finalist of 2018 DCAC World Contest will be invited for an all-expense paid trip to Japan together with a respective guardian for the award ceremony in August 2018. In Japan, the winners will be given a tour of Toyota factory and exposure to various aspects of Japanese culture.

There is no purchase or fees required to enter the contest. The art work must be hand drawn with any paint media including water paint, colour markers or crayon. Participants are encouraged to be creative in dreaming off a futuristic car with a background that supports the idea. The drawings are expected to be viewed by a global audience and as such should appeal to people of diverse cultures.

Entry forms are available online at the UMWT’s website toyota.com.my. Children of employees and associate companies of UMWT are also eligible to take part in this contest.
