Nissan Serena S-Hybrid Launched For just RM135,500
Edaran Tan Chong Motors today launched the all-new Nissan Serena 2.0 S-Hybrid, with new intelligent technologies and features that are thoughtful conveniences.
Befitting its popularity among families, the all-new Nissan Serena S-Hybrid comes with a completely new design and sporty appearance, unmatched comfort and space flexibility, advanced safety features, and class-leading fuel economy. Two grades are available; the Premium Highway Star and Highway Star.
Sales and Marketing Director of ETCM, Mr. Christopher Tan stated that Malaysia is the first country outside of Japan to locally-assemble this new Serana S-Hybrid. To date, they’ve collected 1300 bookings.
The new Serena S-Hybrid adopts Nissan’s new generation global design language that creates a more dynamic and sporty styling. The core features are the new V-Motion Strut Grille, Dual Layer LED Projector Headlamps and LED Signature Lamps, Floating Roof Design and LED Tail Lamps with a distinctive S-Shaped Design.
Nissan Intelligent Mobility features have been added to provide a more exciting, confident and connected drive. The key highlights include:
- S-Hybrid system with upgraded ECO motor that controls the Idling Stop system and provides additional torque assist in start-up acceleration. It also acts as an alternator to facilitate energy recuperation during deceleration and braking.
- First in class Intelligent Around Monitor (I-AVM), which uses 4 cameras that provide a 360-degree view of the vehicle
- Intelligent Moving Object Detection (I-MOD), detects and alerts the driver of moving objects surrounding the vehicle
- Intelligent Driver Alertness (I-DA), helps alert potential driver fatigue (drowsy driving) and inattention
- Smartphone connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so that the driver is able to stay focused on the road and still being able to get turn-by-turn nevigation directions, receive and make calls, listen and reply to messages, and play music using voice commands.
Powering the Serena S-Hybrid is a 2-litre (MR20DD) Twin CVTC engine paired with XTRONIC CVT and Adaptive Shift Control. A maximum 150PS @ 6000rpm and 200Nm of torque @ 4400rpm is generated. A new Dual Arm Tensioner is used to maintain optimal tensile force on the belt to reduce friction, reduce power loss and increase fuel efficiency.
Improvements to the engine have resulted in a 2.8% improvement in power-to-weight ratio and best-in-class fuel economy of 14.2 km/litre – a 13% improvement over the preceding car.
On top of the powertrain improvement, this new MPV also adopts a sound-absorbing liner in the wheelhouse to improve cabin quietness. Increasing the steering rack gear ratio for quicker turning through reduced steering-wheel lock-to-lock turns. The variable assist electric power steering gives a lighter steering feel at low speed (when parking) and a firm feel at higher speeds for improved stability. Stigger front and rear suspension mounting, as well as the addition of high performance valves in the shock absorbers, deliver a more stable and comfortable ride.
The all-new Serena S-Hybrid also offers new convenience features such as

- Dual back door
- Capless fuel filler
- 7 USB power ports
Owners will enjoy the Soft Padded Instrument Panel, the 7″ Advance Driving Assist DIsplay, and the flat-bottomed leather steering wheel with cruise control. There’s also a 6.75″ Clarion infotainment unit, push start ignition, intelligent key, a dual-zone auto climate control system and air cond ducts for all three rows.
This new Serena S-Hybrid is a 7-seater, with Zero Gravity Inspired seats for the front and middle row. The middle row consists of 2 Captain Seats with dual armrests and a personal table.
The 3rd row of seats are given a power sliding door switch on the left side, as well as a ‘step-release’ to push the 2nd row seats forward from behind.
6 SRS airbags are standard, as is Vehicle Dynamic Control, Traction Control, ABS, EBD, BA, and Hill Start Assist.
ETCM will sell the Highway Star Varaint in Cashmere Gold, Diamond Black, Brilliant WHite, and Tungsten Silver. The Premium Highway Star is available in two-tone finished of Brilliant White with a Diamond Black Roof, Tungsten SIlver with a Diamond Black Roof or Cashmere Gold with an Imperial Umber Roof.
Additionally, the Premium Highway Start variant gets Combination leather seats in either two tone Truffle Brown and Chestnut or Single-tone Black, a 10.1″ roof-mounted LCD Panel, Tech-on Tray mat for the 2nd row table, a dashcam, LED room lamp, 16″ Diamond CUt alloy wheels, door visors and V-Kool 4MIL Security Film Tining.
A 5-year, Unlimited Mileage Warranty is offered, as is a 3-year/60,000 Maintainance Service program. The first 500 registered vehicles come with a free Terzo Portable Cooler Box by PIAA.
