Mercedes B-CLASS for 2019 Gets Bigger & Lighter

There was a rumor circulating on the internet recently that Mercedes-Benz might not be introducing an all new B-Class until 2020. That has now changed with this spy-shots of a brand new B-Class on test in Europe.

The new B-Class will grow in length compared to its predecessor. If it grows to the same length as the all new A-Class, which is an increase of around 12 centimeters to 4.48 meters. The wheelbase will grow by 3 centimeters as compared to its predecessor to a wide 2.73 meters. Part of the extra length will be reflected in the boot which mean more luggage space. Already, the B-Class can accommodate between 488 and 1,547 liters. At the same time, this new B-Class will probably lose some weight thanks to the new MFA2 platform.

The engine range for the new B-Class will largely come from the new A-Class range. The B 160, 180 and 200 will be powered by the petrol engine from the Renault-Nissan Alliance (M 282), which will produce between 115 to 163bhp. For the two larger models, there will be a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The B 250 will get the new 2.0-liter petrol engine from Mercedes with 224bhp under the hood (M 260). This will probably be the version that Malaysia will see.
