Saga Achieved 3.51L/100KM in East Coast Leg of Proton 1-Tank Adventure

Proton 1-Tank Adventure continued to the East Coast from 21 to 22 July 2018. This round saw the contestants, comprising of media, celebrities, key opinion leaders, and members of the public traveling on a route covering a total of 640 km on just a tank of fuel in either a Saga 1.3 CVT, Persona 1.6 CVT or Iriz 1.3 CVT. All teams succesfully completed the whole journey but one team fell short despite having covered 630 km.

Due to geographical differences in each region, fuel consumption may differ for both the Central and East Coast region although kilometres travelled were the same. Some challenges faced by participants driving from Kuala Terengganu to Kuantan as 70% of the route were narrow single lane coastal roads with traffic, lorries and winding roads; plus, the hot and humid weather.

The best fuel consumption was achieved by Saga 1.3 CVT at 3.51L/100km (average fuel consumption for Saga is 4.55L/100km), followed by Persona 1.6 CVT at 3.97L/100km (average fuel consumption is 5.16L/100km) and Iriz 1.3 CVT at 4.95L/100km (average fuel consumption is 5.31L/100km). The results were verified by scrutineers from the Malaysia Speed Festival (MSF).

16 teams drove on a free and easy drive, stopping at local points of interest such as Pantai Penarik, Menara Tinjau Marang Waterfront, Medan Ikan Bakar Dungun, Chukai Hai Peng Coffee, and Sungai Lembing Mines before heading to Stadium Sultan Mizan for the Dynamic Driving Experience. They even took breaks to enjoy local delicacies such as the famous Hai Peng coffee, satar, ikan bakar, and local fruits.

Although fuel consumption in the East Coast region differs from the Central region, results demonstrated that participants utilised driving tips well to outdo one another, whilst enjoying good food, and beautiful sceneries.
