Geely keen to buy Alfa Romeo & Maserati

News just in from online news portals in Milan, Italy, say that Geely wants to buy these two iconic car brands to broaden their luxury portfolio. The rumour started after Geely started talks with IVECO and then moved towards Alfa Romeo and Maserati.

Geely currently owns Lotus, Proton, Volvo, Polestar and Lynk & Co and they also have shares in Daimler. This acquisition of the iconic Alfa Romeo and Maserati brands will allow both Italian brands to grow fast in the Chinese auto market where they are both struggling to increase sales against the German rivals.

The sale of both Italian car brands will also allow current owner FCA to get much needed liquidity for investing in the development of their growing brands like Jeep. More will be shared soon.

Meanwhile, true Alfa fans need not worry as we are sure Geely will keep the design and engineering departments and sort out the electrics which have been an issue with previous Alfa Romeo’s.
