Volkswagen Passat Variant 4MOTION R-Line Edition

Coming to European showrooms very soon will be this all new Passat Variant 4MOTION R-Line Edition. To be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show this 7th of March it comes in a unique design with lots of new interesting features. The bodywork comes painted in Gray Moonstone. A number of black elements have been added to provide contrast, the most prominent being the glossy black roof.

The roof railing spoiler, the railings and mirror bodies are also black. Side window frames, rear diffuser, headlights and all interior decor are also glossy black. The same color scheme includes LED fog lights and 19-inch Pretoria rims.

Black also dominates the interior. The driver and front passenger will enjoy R-Line sports seats. Their central sections will be covered with Nappa fine leather and the supporting sides with a leather that has a carbon fiber-like texture. Pedals are finished in stainless steel (brushed), and side sills (with R-line logo) also come in stainless steel. The new ambient lighting system brings a wide range of colors.

The limited edition has almost all the new on-board technologies brought on by facelift as standard, including: the digital dashboard and the 9.2-inch glass-covered navigation system with the Integrated SIM Card (ESIM) Discover Pro Discover Pro an R-Line home screen. Thanks to the new Wireless App Connect, applications on an iPhone can be wirelessly integrated into the multimedia system via Bluetooth for the first time using Apple CarPlay.

Another new feature is Travel Assist. The presence of this assistance system means that the Passat is one of the first cars in the world to be partially assisted in driving at a speed of 210km/h. Electronic systems can take acceleration, braking and direction from the driver’s control. All the driver has to keep his hands on the wheel, and the machine’s brain will detect this through the leather-covered multifunctional leather steering wheel on a VW that is touch sensitive.

Travel Assist is a fusion of the front camera, the front pedestrian monitoring system, the Park Assist parking assist system, the Side Assist tread switch system and the Adaptive Cruise Control automatic control system.

 

Other standard equipment includes the new IQ Light LED Matrix Lighting System, a Area View camera system and the latest version of the DCC adaptive damping control system. The sporty positioning of the model is further underlined by the “ESC off” function, which is used to deactivate the electronic stabilizer program when driving on circuits.

This VW Passat Variant 4MOTION R-Line Edition limited edition can be ordered with either a 240hp diesel engine or a 272hp petrol powerplant.
