BMW Malaysia Launches X4, Previews X5 xDrive40i & X2 M35i

At an event today, BMW Malaysia officially launched and previewed key SUV models.

The launch of the day was the X4 xDrive30i M Sport. This ‘Sports Activity Coupe’ will be locally assembled and have a sticker price of just RM380,000.

As the model name implies, it’ll come with a sharp looking M Sport bodykit including 20″ M double spoke rims (Style 699M), M Sport brakes and more. Standard equipment for the Malaysian version include the following:

  • LED headlights
  • windscreen with acoustic glass
  • 10.25″ Navigation System Professional with Touch Sensitive Control Display
  • BMW ConnectedDrive
  • Full Colour Heads-up Display
  • 12.3″ Multifunctional Instrument Display with Black Panel Technology
  • Vernasca Leather upholstery in Tacora Red
  • 3 zone air conditioning system
  • Panorama Glass Roof
  • Harmon Kardon 16-speaker Surround Sound System

Colour offerings include:

  • Alpine White
  • Carbon Black
  • Flamenco Red
  • Phytonic Blue

Black Vernasca Leather is available on all models, Tacora Red Vernasca Leather upholstery is exclusive to Alpine White and Carbon Black models only.

The X4 will be in showrooms nationwide starting June 2019.

Previews of X5 xDrive 40i and X2 M35i

BMW Malaysia also took the opportunity to show off upcoming launches of their X5 and X2 models. The X5 is an all-new model, while the X2 M35i is a higher spec variant of the X2 that was launched last year.

X5 xDrive40i (RM640,000)

The X5 that was brought in for the preview ought to be representative of the final product. It featured a 3-litre inline 6 tuned to 340hp and 450Nm of torque. A top speed of 243km/h and a 0-100km/h time of 5.5 seconds is claimed. This through an 8-speed Steptronic transmission that sends power to all four wheels using BMW’s xDrive system. Adaptive M suspension is included.

Vernasca Leather upholstery, Rear Seat Entertainment Professional, Panorama glassroof, Comfort Access electrically controlled 2-piece tailgate, a 12.3″ Information Display, a new heads up dosplay, BMW Personal CoPilot, Lane Departure Warning, Frontal Collision Warning, intelligent park assist, reversing assist, BMW Digital Key and more are standard on the Malaysian version of the X5.

Colour options include:

  • Mineral White
  • Black Sapphire
  • Artic Grey
  • Phytonic Blue

Vernasca Leather is available in Black+Aluminium Tetragon on Mineral White and Black Sapphire models. On other the Artic Grey and Phytonic Blue cars, the interior is finished in Leather Coffee with Fineline Stripe Wood. Leather Cognac and Fineline Stripe Wood is an option on Mineral White models only.

X2 M35i (RM400,000)

This sporty crossover comes with a number of M Performance elements including a double kidney grille finished in Cerium Grey, new side air inlets above the brakes, and Cerium Grey wing mirror caps.

It has a M rear spoiler, M Sport exhaust system, 20″ M Sport Light Alloy Wheels (721 M).

Its 2-litre TwinPower Turbo engine generated 306hp and 450Nm of torque giving it a 0-100km/h of just 5 seconds. It comes with an M Sport suspension system, M Sport Differential on the front axle gear and M Sport braking system with Dark Blue brake callipers.

Colour options include:

  • Alpine White
  • Black Sapphire
  • Galvanic Gold
  • Misano Blue
  • Sunset Orange

Black Dakota leather with Black perforations or Magma Red with Grey highlighted perforations are your interior options.
