Lexus NX 300 with even more safety kit at RM313,888

Yes, there is a new Lexus NX in all Lexus showrooms nationwide and one quick look you will not be able to tell the difference between this latest 2019 Lexus NX and the outgoing model. The reason is simply this, the new features are skin deep and please keep reading to find out why you need to test drive this NX 300 before you take a test drive in any one of its German made rivals.

Lexus Malaysia, a division of UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd has officially lifted the covers off the 2019 Lexus NX Urban Luxury SUV, now featuring advanced features and enhancements. The new model, still considered as one of the sharpest luxury-utility vehicle designs on the road, now arrives with Lexus Safety System + (LSS+), which takes Active Safety to even higher levels.

Safety remains one of the key focal points of the new model. The new Lexus NX now comes with the latest Lexus Safety System + (LSS+), which is the most comprehensive safety system ever offered in Lexus models. The new integrated suite of advanced safety systems is designed to support driver awareness, decision-making and vehicle operation over a wide range of speeds under varied conditions.

Key features of the LSS+ includes the Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Brake Collision Assist, Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) and Lane Departure Alert (LDA). The new NX also features Active Cornering Assist (ACA) and advanced Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) system which can vary the cruising speed when necessary to maintain a safe gap with vehicles ahead. The latter feature not only works at crusing speeds but will operate down to 0km/h, allowing it to manage city crawls without requiring the driver’s throttle or brake input, contributing to enhanced motoring pleasure.

Other safety features available in the Lexus NX include Parking Support Alert and Adaptive High-beam System (AHS), which automatically optimizes the headlamp distribution to prevent glare. The NX300 F-Sport is equipped with an Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system whilst the new NX300 Premium features a Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) system.

The new Lexus NX was developed around the core concept of ‘Premium Urban Sport Gear’, a next-generation Lexus that applies an urban focus to luxury SUVs. The end result is a stylish and luxurious vehicle that not only meets the mobility demands of city dwellers but is also equipped with advanced technologies, excellent environmental performance and refined Lexus features.

The new Lexus NX, to be available at all Lexus Centres in Malaysia from 22nd June 2019, is offered in three variants: the NX300 Premium, NX300 Urban as well as the NX300 F-Sport. 

In presenting the new Lexus NX, Deputy Chairman of Lexus Malaysia Mr. Akio Takeyama said, “The new Lexus NX continues to be at the forefront of the luxury SUV market in Malaysia. It not only boasts and elegant sophisticated design to delivers style and driving performance but now it also with unparalleled levels of safety.”

According to President of Lexus Malaysia, Mr. Ravindran K., “As you can see, these safety active systems help address three key areas of accident protection: preventing or mitigating frontal collisions; keeping drivers within their lane; and enhancing road safety during night driving,” adds Mr. Ravindran K., “The new Lexus NX takes Active Safety to the next level, which is of paramount importance for us at Lexus Malaysia.” 

The new Lexus NX has eight SRS airbags installed on the front and sides of the cabin for maximum Passive Protection of all occupants. The ISOFIX points for compatible child seats are easy to locate and access on the second-row seat.

On the outside, the 2019 Lexus NX continues with the design theme of Urban Sport Gear, with the spindle grille featuring the Lexus brand signature. New sequential signal lamps also provide a more dynamic look. The Lexus NX300 F Sport adopts a Jet-black plating Spindle Grille which is used in the Lexus RC-F and features a F-mesh pattern exclusive to Lexus F Sport models.

Both the Lexus NX 300 Urban and Lexus NX 300 Premium sit on 18-inch alloy wheels in a premium two-tone colour. The Lexus NX300 F-Sport rims –also 18 inches in diameter – are finished in an exclusive Dark Premium Metallic finish with wider 235/55R18 tyres to complement the extended driving dynamics.

The new Lexus NX is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (8AR-FTS) which produces 235hp at between 4,800 and 5,600 rpm with 350Nm of torque from 1,650 rpm up to 4,000 rpm. Paired with a sequential 6-speed automatic transmission (6 Super ECT) with Torque-Demand control the new Lexus NX benefits from a quick response and exhilarating acceleration.

The G-force Artificial Intelligence (G-AI) system enables more spirited driving by selecting the optimum gear and downshift pattern in response to g-forces of the vehicle. The model also arrives with Dynamic Torque Control AWD for optimum driving performance as well as handling stability along with excellent fuel economy.

Drivers can select options from driving responses ranging from Normal, ECO and Sport using the Drive Mode Select dial on the centre console. On the Lexus NX300 F-Sport variant, the addition of Sports S+ provides sportier driving performance with the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS). 

Epitomising the modern crossover SUV, the interior of the Lexus NX combines a powerful and practical SUV-like character with a sporty adventurous image. Refined like every other Lexus model, the NX impresses with the use of high-quality materials and peerless craftsmanship.

The interior has been optimised with switches and controls within easy reach. The ‘command centre’ for the Lexus NX is the centre area of the dashboard where an 8-inch display panel is featured prominently. The Remote Touch Interface (RTI) has also evolved to become even more intuitive and user-friendly.

A total of seven exterior colours are available for the new model, which include Blazing Carnelian, Amber CS, Sonic Titanium, Sonic Quartz, Graphite Black GF, Red MC CS and Sparkling Meteor ME. The NX300 F-Sport is also offered exclusively in Heat Blue CL or Lava Orange CS.
