Only 20 MINI Convertible in Malaysia for RM280K
The new MINI Convertible has been launched in Malaysia for RM279,888.00 in conjunction with the brand’s 60th anniversary. Under the BMW Group, MINI has released convertible variants since 2004. The first generation, the R52 was made between 2004 and 2008. The second-generation R57 came in between 2009 and 2015.

Highlights
The main highlight of this model is, of course, the soft-top folding roof. MINI Malaysia has opted to spec the car with a Union Jack design woven into the fabric of this roof.
It unfolds electronically within 18 seconds up to speeds of 30km/h and they claim it provides good sound insulation due to its multiple layer construction. A unique function of this fabric roof is that it can be opened, closed or set in ‘sunroof mode’.
The New MINI Convertible is equipped with LED headlights (bi-LED) and taillights. The daytime running lights incorporate LED indicators and the taillights sport a Union Jack motif.
It is equipped with 17″ Rail Spoke design in Jet Black with runflat tyres. We also get an Easy Load system which increases the size of the luggage compartment opening by holding the retracted soft top above the compartment hatch.
The interior upholstered in Leather Chester, a brand new lush, diamond-stitched saddle leather in Malt Brown.
The door armrest and knee roll will also complement the Malt Brown seats.
This is paired to MINI Yours illuminated interior surface in Piano Black, owners can choose from 12 different colour options illuminating from the Union Jack Design.
A MINI Yours Nappa Leather Steering Wheel with hand- finished aluminium-coloured contrast stitching is present too.
Performance
The 2-litre inline-4 MINI TwinPower Turbo engine sits at the heart of this new MINI. Just as in its 3-door and 5-door hatch siblings, it puts out 192hp and 280Nm of torque.
It also gets the 7-sped Steptronic Sports Automatic transmission, a wet-sump dual-clutch gearbox produced by Getrag sending power to the front wheels. The car has a 0-100km/h time of 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 230km/h.
It comes with an engine start/stop function and three driving modes – GREEN, SPORT and MID.
Ownership
Strangely, MINI Malaysia have decided to bring in just 20 units of the MINI Convertible, leaving any additional demand to be filled by the grey market.
The New MINI Convertible will feature the special exterior colour offering of Caribbean Aqua which is exclusive to the model. Additional exterior colour offerings for the New MINI Convertible include Chili Red, Solaris Orange, Melting Silver and Starlight Blue. We’re not sure what the distribution of these 5 colours is, perhaps 4 of each were brought in.
But if you decided to own one, get it before the 31st of August and enjoy 60 months of the MINI Service + Repair Inclusive programme. This will get you free scheduled service up to 5 years/80,000km and a 5-year/unlimited mileage warranty.
With the Balloon Financing from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, ownership of the New MINI Convertible starts from RM 3,028.00 per month. The retail price is RM 279,888.00.
