Goodyear Malaysia has announced the appointment of Alex Ng as its Managing Director Malaysia. Alex replaces Ben Hoge who after a successful 3- year assignment will be moving to a senior role within Goodyear’s European, Middle East and Africa organisation (EMEA).

Ben Hoge, Managing Director of Goodyear Malaysia since 2016, is returning to lead Sales Operations and International Key Accounts based out of the Goodyear EMEA headquarters in Brussels, Belgium effective 1st August 2019.

During his time in Malaysia he successfully implemented an aligned distribution model, expanding the retail network with a stronger mix of new high performance tyres, which returned Goodyear Malaysia to volume and market share growth.

Alex Ng first joined Goodyear in 2008 as General Manager (Singapore) and was promoted to become General Manager, Aviation business in Bangkok, Thailand in 2009. Alex was subsequently promoted to Original Equipment (OE) Director, Asia Pacific in 2012. From 2013, Alex assumed his current business portfolio as Market Director, Singapore, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Philipines and Export Markets.

Alex is expected to take up his new position in Malaysia in Q4 2019. In the meantime, Andy Cooper, Managing Director, Goodyear ASEAN will take direct responsibility for the Malaysia business until Alex transitions from his current role.

Andy Cooper said: “Having been part of Goodyear’s success across multiple businesses in the region over the last 10 years, we are delighted to welcome Alex Ng onto the next step in his exciting journey. His wealth of experience, industry expertise, customer connections and familiarity with the Goodyear company vision will be the driving forces for Goodyear’s continued success in Malaysia. We are confident Alex will build on Ben’s achievements and propel Goodyear to a whole new level in the industry.”

“Malaysia is a very dynamic market, which offers a tremendous range of opportunities for Goodyear. As the auto and tyre industry continues to develop I am confident Goodyear has the brand heritage, quality products, organisation capabilities and trade partnerships to achieve best levels in class customer satisfaction to drive growth in the market. I very much look forward to the challenge of building Goodyear’s leadership position for the benefit of all our stakeholders” stated Ng.
